The milk was all frozen within 2 days of pumping, kept in a side-by-side fridge/freezer at the proper temp, and always fed shortly after thawing. I can't figure out any other reason he suddenly doesn't want it. I'm going to try giving him fresh milk from a bottle tonight or tomorrow to see if he takes it.
Background info: He took bottles at DC just fine, I'm a teacher so I'm off right now and he rarely gets bottles. I always sent frozen milk on Monday and fresh the rest of the week. They never indicated he had trouble eating, they write down what he eats and he normally ate all 3 bottles just fine.
If I have to pour all of this milk out, I will be devastated. Most of it was pumped on my breaks at work (not extra breaks, so I gave my lunch time for it) and it was really hard. I'll be really bummed if I have to get rid of it.
Can anyone help? Ideas?
Re: help! may have to pour out over 200oz of BM (XP BF board)
I'm sorry. If he refuses them, there is no solution. :-( Some babies take it anyway (mine does, even though it smells really metallic and has an off taste).
((hugs))
Could you try to mix it with fresh milk? Also, have you tried giving him some that is on the newer side of the 200 oz?
This is really devastating. Someone once threw out like one ounce of my BM and I almost lost my mind...I can't imagine 200 ounces!!
I was going to suggest this as well. Try mixing fresh and frozen and see if that helps. The fresh might be able to mask the taste of the frozen. GL!

Yes, I tried it warm. We just ate dinner and I sat him in his high chair and just gave him a bottle with like 3 ounces in it. I was able to get him to drink 2. I think maybe when people hold him, he expects to be BF. Maybe feeding him in the high chair is our solution. He didn't exactly drink it like he used to at DC, but at least he didn't scream and refuse the whole time.
I have some that is about a month fresher thawing now that I will try tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'll try to mix it. I don't want to have to pump every day, but I will if I have to.
It could be YOU, not the milk. My lo's never would eat frozen with me in the house.... maybe he is refusing because you are right there?
Hopefully you don't have to toss it, that would be awful!
Maybe he has just grown accustomed to nursing and didn't want to drink from the bottle. Maybe it wasn't a milk issue.
I definitely would try mixing it with fresh milk and/or using it to thin his purees.
Good luck!
I'd also suggest trying to mix it with fresh stuff.
C will only take thawed milk if it's mixed with at least a little fresh.
