  • There are only a very few genetic disorders that make one's teeth "soft" or have very little enamel.  They are VERY rare (as in, I have only ever seen 2 people with a disease of this type).  In general, if you have cavities, it means you were a susceptible host to a certain type of bacteria and you didn't brush your teeth effectively enough (or didn't floss properly in terms of cavities between teeth).

  • Multigrain is not necessarily whole grain. Vitamin supplements don't give you energy. You don't need protein supplements to bulk up. A serving of meats from the food guide is only 2.5 ounces. It's not that hard to eat enough fruits and veggies to meet your requirements if you know serving sizes. Organic does not mean more nutritious. I could go on.

When you buy property, you actually own your plot of land all the way down to the center of the earth and all the way up into the atmosphere.

Exception: You're asked to waive your rights to coal in PA.

Yes, in Nevada you also do not own the mineral rights to your land, but you do own the land itself.  Kinda ruins that whole fantasy of striking it rich on gold/oil in your backyard.

So if I went in my back yard and dug a giant hole and found gold, who would own it?

It's possible you would if the mineral rights were never severed from your land :)

  • There is actually no such thing as a diet slush from Sonic - at least when I worked there in HS. They poured 50 pound bags of sugar into a machine and it froze with some water and ta da! Slush. So that diet cherry slush DH always orders is actually frozen sugar with some cherry flavored splenda on top.

Intact male dogs get really ugly big bum holes as they age.

This cracks me up.  I have an intact male who is getting old & I don't remember his bungholio looking any worse or better than when he was younger.  A bung is a bung, IMO, and none of them are nice looking!

No one gets hired to teach Literature anymore.

If retention is dropping, grades will start rising.

If you're rude to the departmental secretary, not only will she remember forever, but all of the faculty will hate you and probably won't work with you (unless you're some sort of savant).

  • How high your 3-year-old can count and how many letters he knows doesn't mean nearly as much about his intelligence and future success in life as whether or not he can wait for the other kid to be done with the red crayon.

  • Thanks to insurance company policies and the changes in health care, public hospitals barely make any money, if any, on the patients that we treat.  There are so many no pays that we must take care of and get paid nothing for and so many procedures that we get paid for on a per case basis (rather than per diem) that we often lose money just for taking thorough care of patients and not kicking them out before they are completely well.  It's sad.
  • Nurses have 97% more to do with your care than doctors.

You get talked about if you, or your family is a patient. I guarantee it.

but will surprise the rest of us?

I used to be a barista, and a lot of people were surprised to learn that for drip coffee, the dark roast actually has the least amount of caffeine. The light roast has the most.

Thats because people do not realize that the roasting process cooks off some caffiene. Its also why decaf of a blend will be slightly darker than the caffienated.

I also used to be a barista. About 15 years ago.

I have always worked with the elderly. You would be amazed how many of the patients do not have family come and visit them.

They just let them die alone or they come in and treat them like shiit, demanding things or money. And the 90 year old grandma or grandpa will just cry, because they haven't lost their mind they know that their children are douchebags!

Oh and I worked at McDonalds when I was 15...I know what they do to those chicken nuggets.

This is so true and so sad

Our highschool ROTC group used to go visit a nursing home sometimes.

I think C and I should go now if we can.

    (journalist: former profession)

Most times (not all times), lengthly feature articles in a major newspaper/magazine are not printed as the author orginially submitted it. So don't get mad at the writer.

The articles get the crap edited out of them by editors. And sometimes thru the editing process, the article is slanted towards the way the magazine editors and advertisers want it to print.

And this also goes for the topic of the article and the sources quoted within - many times the topic and sources are assigned to the writer by an editor, who many times is directed by the publisher. So, again, don't get mad at the WRITER for the subject of the article.

So we can blame the editors for the shittons of typos that make it through?
