I'm over the whole bacon-wrapped everything trend... I totally love bacon, but seriously everything is getting wrapped in it lately! Every second recipe on my pinterest is bacon-wrapped asparagus, bacon-wrapped potatoes, bacon-wrapper jalapenos, bacon-wrapped meat loaf... on and on it goes. It's too much of a good thing.

I TOTALLY agree with you!! Have you heard about the squeeze bacon? It comes in like a ketchup bottle to squeeze on burgers, hotdogs, etc...I heard about it on the radio yesterday. Disgusting.
My UO...is I hate the saying "this AM" or in anyway using AM instead of morning...a friend of mine does it ALL.THE.TIME. It annoys the crap out of me.
I don't think it is appropriate to take kids everywhere. I don't think they need to be at weddings (of non family members), funerals (again of non family members), L&D in the middle of the night. I could go on and on. I get there are some emergencies, but if not find a sitter or skip it.

Wha?!?! I love bacon and I would put it on everything if I didn't think it would end up killing me, but even I know where to draw the line. The line has been drawn, and bacon in a squeeze bottle is waaaay over there on the "oh no they didn't" side.
I know!! I thought they had to be kidding but she was serious. It's fully cooked with no preservatives though!

My UO is based on the PJs post below. I think of yoga pants as pajamas. I mean, unless you're actually doing yoga in them. Apparently, this is unpopular given the amount of replies from people claiming they don't stay in PJs but do wear yoga pants. So are pajamas only the clothes you actually sleep in?

I hate crockpots and I think most everything that is made in them is disgusting and why America is so fat.
LOL! I don't like crockpots either. Just not my thing..........I get the convenience for people though.
I don't know if this is why America is so fat. There are so many other contributing factors........but a lot of the crockpot recipes I've seen use cream of x soup, and pre made sauces, and those aren't good.
I do know people that use them and put real ingredients in, so they're not always bad. But it's usually not food we like to eat.......

Wow. All this anti-crockpot nonsense is really getting me down.
You people have obviously never had slow cooked ribs. Or pulled pork? Yes, the same thing can be done in the oven... but if you use the crock pot you can use the oven to bake fresh bread! Or any variety of vegetable side dishes that request a different cooking temperature than the meat.
To not see the value in that is ridiculous.
Though, to be fair, I've never done cream of anything in a crock pot... or casseroles. They look nasty. But I maintain my stance!
- Turtle Whoever just totally cracked me up. Like, laugh-out-loud, husband-raising-his-eyebrows-at-me cracking up. I like you, whoever you are.
- The crockpot is a slippery slope, one that can go horribly wrong and send the user skidding helplessly into a fat-laden abyss of Cambell's soup and Velveeta. However, I still maintain that it's the best way ever to do a pot roast or shredded chicken.
- I fully admit to skipping a shower once every week or so, dressing in yoga pants and crosstrainers to take the kids to school, and then doing absolutely nothing athletic the rest of the day. I'll own that one.
I'm sitting in capri yoga pants today, mainly because I'm too big for my regular clothes and not big enough for maternity right now.
The crockpot could be a good thing, however I'm usually not motivated enough early in the day to do the prep for it. Plus, the majority of dishes I would consider making (those without cream of anything or the like) MH would not like.
It does make a killer homemade applesauce in the fall though.
I don't get the Shades phenomenon either. I agree watch porn or Skin-a-max, or go see Magic Mike.
I don't like the name Olive either. Though the character in Little Miss Sunshine was hysterical.
I love bacon, but think it is nasty when added to anything else. It is meant to be enjoyed just as it is. The fact that we are discussing bacon on a kid board makes me laugh. Don't touch my crock pot or I will have to sucker punch you. I am in love with it, especially when we are running around to soccer, dance, girl scouts, etc. and get home with no time left to actually prep and cook anything.
Proud Mommy to Kaylie 12-04, Alaina 5-06 & Annalise 6-08
I totally agree with not everywhere is an appropriate place for kids. Yoga pants are glorified sweat pants. Crock pots are not my favorite either.
The name Olive is growing on me. There is a character on the show ANT Farm, named Olive.
My UO is that I am so tired of people IRL who make stupid decisions over and over and wonder why their lives are jacked up and you want people to feel sorry for you.Your 11 year old weighs almost 200 lbs, how about not going to Twinkie Tuesday? Your hubby doesn't like his job anymore, how about not quit when you have nothing lined up and you have 3 kids?

I don't get the use of them by SAHMs...umm...you are at home! You have time in your day, put a meal together. It doesn't have to be gourmet every day.
The fact that most of the recipes use premade crap or cream of crap soup is what gets me. I had one for a couple of years and the only thing I ever made in it was sausage and homemade meatballs cooked in my own sauce for sandwichs. I love a meatball sandwich!

I hate crockpots and I think most everything that is made in them is disgusting and why America is so fat.
Agreeded. Just add cream of whatever and cheese, let it sit all day, the viola. Yuck.
Yeah, the let it sit all day thing really gets to me. For the most part, all the recipes can be made in the oven or on the stove...why warm it all day. Ugh.

I have two ovens...I can do it all without the crockpot. Though, I don't bake, so my bread comes fresh from the oven of my local French bakery.
Not trying to sell you on crock pots but honestly soups come out unbelieveable. The flavor meld together and are just delicious. You know how soup or sauce usually taste better the next day because the flavors blend overnight? well you get that immediately with a crockpot.
Also shredded meats are great in them. I have done shredded chicken, beef and pork. There is no need to sjred it yourself and make a mess. Sometimes I make burritos or tacos etc. sometimes pulled pork or my fav is a pork roast with emeril's kicked up tomato sauce. You top it over ziti.
However you can also get the same results with a Dutch oven in a shorter amount of time. There are just some meats that cook best low and slow.
I was a working mom until this January and it definitely made my life easier. And not everything in a crock is processed garbage...lol
Me too. Although I've never been a huge lover of bacon.
I made pulled pork in the crockpot this week and it was unbelievable. If you have the space for one it's worth it JUST to make pulled pork twice a year! I agree that many of the recipes call for some kind of soup mix, but you can find others. I make chicken cacciatore (that I still don't know how to spell) and it isn't unhealthy.
I am a SAHM and when I'm out all day there isn't another one of me at home to cook! So when I know I'm going to be out ALL DAY (which isn't all that often) I put something in it. Sometimes it's great to come home after a long, tiring day and have a home cooked meal instead of take out. I also used it when my son was an infant. He never napped reliably in the afternoon and after 5pm he was extremely difficult. So it was great to be able to occasionally make dinner during his 10am nap - which he always did take.
I wouldn't tell everyone to go run and buy a crockpot. But everyone who uses one doesn't have a rusty house on wheels either.

My favorite crock pot recipe is for stuffing on Thanksgiving, when I need the oven for turkey and sides.
My UO is that I think I look good to DH in yoga pants. The difference between sweat pants and yoga pants is that DH likes my butt a lot in yoga pants, and likes when I change into them with a tank top after dinner. He calls this one pair my "butt pants".

I have to add some more crockpot love...it's great for making chicken stock. Whenever I roast a whole chicken, I throw the carcass in the crockpot with veggies and herbs and cook it on low over night. Then I portion the stock into pint freezer bags and pull them out when I need them. Sooooo much better than buying canned broth.
Also, it's great if you need to hold something. I usually make oyster stew for Christmas Eve dinner, but there's no way I'd be able to leave it on the stove for an hour and a half while we went to church. I just transfer it to the crockpot and put it on "warm," and it's piping hot when we come back, but hasn't broken.
