MORE things you can't do while pregnant!?

I was just talking to my cousin who has 3 kids. I was telling her about all the crazy things I've been seeing/ready lately that pregnant people "can't do" and all the crazy questions people ask. ("Can exercise, like yoga, effect you babies sex/gender?" "Is it safe to put your arms over your head while pregnant?" "Is it safe to take a bath?" ..etc. I'm sure you've heard them! and YES I "borrowed" a few from other posts.. lol they still count!)

This was her response...
"oh don't push your belly button.. it will cause brain damage.. or don't sneeze.. thats causes serious issues... and most importantly.. DO NOT drink ice water.. gives the babes brain freeze which will cause mental disabilities."

lol there's a few I haven't heard! what other CRAZY things have you been told to do/not to do? Seriously... who lets these people reproduce?

Haha, that's ridiculous. My grandma told me not to eat hot cheetos because my baby will be born with acid reflux. Then my great grandma came in and told me to stop eating them because my baby would be born with hemmorrhoids. Where they come up with this stuff, I have no idea!

Maybe It wouldn't of been such a crazy thing if this was said when I actually had a belly but at this point I was like..3 weeks pregnant.

I totally ate a bag of those yesterday. Not the individual size, but the big one. So apparently my LO will have reflux and hemmorrhoids... Guess I better stock up on tums and diaper rash cream!!! Stick out tongue

OMG the ice water one! Hahaha... if that's the case then my LO has zero chance at normal brain function. Esp since it's about 4 trillion degrees out here. Blech.

Don't eat soft serve ice cream b/c you can get listeriosis. I got a lecture on that from my friend and how I was being risky - and this is coming from the woman who was guzzling back the mimosas, btw. I just took an extra large bite of my cone, LOL.

i want hot cheetos sooooo badly but they don't sell them here! my grandmother said not to take care of any patients who are 'mongoloids' in her words (i am assuming she meant some sort of mental delay or more specifically down's) because my fetus will "CATCH IT" and then it will be "a stupid retard". i was so mad, i really told her off (hormones were blamed afterwards) honestly my very favorite and most appreciative and sweet patients are on the developmental and mental delay wing. love em.

Yeah, I would love to not be sneezing like crazy.

Someone on TB (dont remember where) said they couldnt go outside during the eclipse or they had to wear red... I think it was a cultural thing.

A woman called the vet clinic asking if it was okay to bathe her pregnant dog.

Vet tech: Of course. Didn't you bathe when pregnant?

Woman: Yes, but I kept my belly button above water.

Wasn't there some poster a while back on one of these boards that wrote about not sneezing or coughing for fear of pushing out her "raspberry" (since that was baby's size at the time), and driving really slow over bumps, etc to prevent miscarriage?

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

I didn't see this particular post but I do know people who actually believe both of these! How would any of us be here if a sneeze or cough could "push out" a baby? lol Nobody would survive!! Same with the driving slow over bumps..
I guess people will believe anything!

My mother in law told me that I shouldn't drink anything carbonated because when she was pregnant (30 years ago) her doctor told her when carbonation reaches your stomach it sounds like fire crackers and hurts the babies ears.
