September 2012 Moms

who is still wearing their rings?

I've taken all mine off except my wedding ring/ engagement ring.

with DS i made it to 34 weeks (when my babyshower and maternity pics were done) still wearing my rings.

I don't know if I will make it quite as far this time! they are getting tight!! doesn't help that with DS I was pregnant in the fall/ winter.

If I have to take mine off soon I'm contemplating a fake ring in a bigger size.. anyone else?

I took my rings off before I went to the hospital (I was so bloated after I gave birth they would have had to cut them off) but they stayed on my whole pregnant.  I was pregnant in the winter last time though so maybe that helped.  So far, so good with my rings this time.

  • My hands swelled right before my BFP and I actually wasn't able to get my ring off until I was about 8-9w. After I got it off, it did not go back on. I wore a fake one I bought a few years back for a European girls trip.  I've been wearing that one until this week. With the heat and random finger swelling I just prefer my fingers to be naked.

  • So far I have had zero swelling! (knock on wood). My rings still fit me the same way they did pre pregnancy!
  • The only rings I wear are my engagement ring and wedding band and they still fit. My feet are starting to swell in this NC heat, but my hands are fine so far.
  • My rings are a little loose normally and are starting to get tighter. I'll definitely take them off before going to the hospital again. I'm sure I'll swell like crazy.
  • I'm still wearing mine. They are usually a little loose but fit better in the heat. Right now, it's getting hot and they are fitting perfectly. I'll probably take them off before going to the hospital or if the heat makes it pretty impossible, before then.

  • Still wearing mine - I have only noticed on one day (one of the 97+ days recently) that they felt tight, but the swelling went down quickly.

I did have a really hard time getting one off when pg with DS. I wish I remembered about when that was so I could just take them off preemptively! I feel so naked without them, though.

  • I'm still wearing mine...haven't had any swelling so far.  I wore them through my entire pregnancy with DS, but the heat of the summer may cause me to take them off this time around.

  • Not me :(. I had to give them up about four weeks ago. This saddens me because I didn't get to wear them long (honeymoon baby). OH well-- I have a lifetime ahead, right? Luckily my husband was sweet and bought me a a very pretty tanzanite ring on our honeymoon for my right hand. It now fits on my ring finger and so I wear that.

I had to take them off 2 weeks ago and I miss wearing them!

  • Mine made it to a chain about a week ago. I don't think it is due to swelling, I think it's the weight gain. I had my rings sized when I was at my smallest a few weeks before my wedding, and right now I'm nowhere near that size.

  • I took mine off a while ago, bc it wasn't worth it to me to struggle with them all the time.  They were a tiny bit snug before the BFP, then until first tri was over they were a little looser.  But when we had a really hot humid weekend back in May, I took them off since they felt snug again.

I have a plain silver band that I'm wearing instead, since I think my fingers feel naked with nothing on. I likely won't even try to get them back on until after delivery, or maybe even until going back to work.

  • My real rings have been off for months now, and I few weeks ago, I even had to take off my "pregnant" wedding band (one my mom uses for work as a nurse when she can't wear her regualr wedding rings for safety reasons).  It is two sizes bigger then my wedding band, so I have some serious swelling.

Anyone get "looks" when someone notices you are pregnant without a wedding band on??

  • I take mine off when I get home from work, but I've always done that.  I wear mine everyday, and they're not tight or anything.  I really haven't been swelling or retaining water, just feeling uncomfortable thankfully.  I'm sure the heatwave we're experiencing is going to make matters worse, but hopefully not.

  • With DD I made it to 35 weeks before taking mine off. So far so good this time around!

  • Me! No finger swelling at all! I'm very excited about this. The longer the swelling/high BP/pre-e at bay, the less likely I'll have another NICU baby.

  • I'm still wearing mine but the heat hasn't really hit here yet until today. We have a high of 90ish. Yuck. I'll see how long I last and will buy a fake one for the rest of the pregnancy. I'm in a/c all day at work so the swelling shouldn't be too bad. Plus I'd feel so naked without one on!

  • I'm still wearing mine, but we'll see what happens when it's consistently 90 degrees here.  I don't usually swell with heat, but my feet were incredibly swollen last week after wearing heels and the temperature being 90 degrees +.

If I have to remove my rings, I'm definitely contemplating a fake ring.

  • I had a second wedding band made because my set gets too tight in the summer months and now are impossible to wear being pregnant. I still wear the plain band most days and take it off when I'm at home. I doubt I'll be wearing it much longer, maybe another month. The swelling is never-ending but swimming definitely helps.

  • My rings still fit (I wore them yesterday) but I've been taking them off a lot more often and going without some days, preemptively. My rings fit the entire time I was pregnant with my first, but she was born in May so I was never pregnant during the summer. I've got less than 3 months to go - I'm not spending money on a fake ring. I know I'm married, that's all that matters to me.

I only wear my wedding rings and they are still in place. I didn't take them off until the last month last time and didn't bother with fake ones.

  • I havent worn mine in a long time..maybe just a handful of times since my last pregnancy!  I guess between a little swelling and worrying about scratching my baby I just decide to leave them in the box most of the time.  I wish I had a very pretty necklace to wear them around my neck.

  • Surprisingly I'm still good.  They get tight in the heat but when I'm back in the AC I'm fine.
  • I can't wear mine if it's humid.  Boo.

I won't get a fake, though.  If someone thinks I'm dumb enough to have a 3 year old, a 2 year old, and a huge baby belly all out of wedlock .... whatever.

Honestly, no. IDK, maybe if I looked a lot younger (I'm 37) or didn't have a 4 year old with me most of the time, I might get some looks. But so many babies are born to unmarried people these days, being pregnant without a wedding ring really doesn't garner the looks it would have 30+ years ago. Plus, every other woman who has ever had a kid probably understands that rings don't always fit when you're pregnant!

Mine have been off for a couple of weeks now but we went and got me a plain silver band in a larger size to get me through the pregnancy.

  • Mine still fit comfortably. I'm waiting for the weight gain to pick up though - with my first, I gained most of my weight during last tri. There are a few of my other rings that don't fit [my fingers are more of a size 7 than my normal size 6 1/2 right now], but my wedding rings are still OK.

  • Mine rings are still on most of the time.  I've gotten into a habit of not sleeping in them recently for some reason.  It's super hot and humid here and if I'm outside they get super tight but I come back in and they fit perfectly again.

  • I'm still wearing mine. But, they only still fit because they really needed to be sized before I got pg. I lost weight before I got pg with DD3, and I never got around to have them sized. They were pretty loose pre-pg. They are now getting tighter, but they are still wearable. We'll see how long that holds up.

  • I have to take them off for bed.  For some reason, if I don't, I get extremely irritated under them if I don't.  But besides that, my rings are still spinning because they're a little big in the first place.
  • I've had a fake ring since 6 weeks from the bloat.

  • I'm still wearing one of mine, but it's definitely tighter than it was before! I have a fake ring that DH bought when I was pregnant with DS that I'll migrate over too again once I can't get this one back on. It's really hideous though, lol.

  • Still wearing my rings, only swelling I have is when I am in the heat for too long, even then I can wear them but them are not as loose.

I was able to wear my band throughout my entire pg last time & so far so good this time.

  • I am! And only in the morning when I'm warm from sleeping is it a little snug. Generally I can still slide it on and off without a lot of effort.

  • I'm still in mine, but I'm not sure how much longer it'll last. Between the extreme heat and humidity (southern KY is getting up to 106 degrees this weekend) and my weight gain, it's getting challenging to get my rings off. They feel fine when they're on, but pulling them over my puffy knuckle is awfully snug. If I have to stop wearing them, I'm planning to get a plain silver band to wear. I hate my finger being naked.

  • I'm wearing mine, but it is getting tight....   :(
  • Still wearing mine, although today they're tight, of course. I think it's the heat though. I'm hoping I will still be able to wear them--I feel really naked without during the day in our jewellery store. I always feel like I'm supposed to be wearing lots of jewellery!
