This is kinda random and there's no real point to it... I just find it kinda awesomely hilarious.
So DH's birthday is this weekend and his parents asked if we wanted to go to a relative's cottage from Friday to Tuesday (It's Canada Day, yo!).
Anyhow I was kinda leaning towards no for the following reasons...
We'd have to sleep in a tent. I'm an outdoorsy gal and I love camping, but I'd have to get up in the middle of the night, put on my shoes, go inside the cottage, pee, come back out, get back to sleep and do it all over like five times... which doesn't sound appealing.
Also, it's a five hour drive. (Welcome to Canada, you can't get ANYWHERE without driving for-freaking-ever!) and we have no air in the car!
Also, I was afraid of swelling and being in the heat etc.
Anyhow, DH is SO DETERMINED to go camping that he did the following:
- Got me a porta-potty for inside the tent
- went out and bought the mother of all air mattresses that promises I won't get stuck in the middle like a turtle on my back and not be able to get out of bed
- got the air conditioning in the car re-charged to ensure I don't melt on the long trip
- bought me a new camping chair that's supposed to be oh-so-comfy
....... I'm packing our bags tonight. I can't say no now. I have absolutely no reason not to go. Oh DH, you clever young man, you.
I guess I am goin' campin'. And dammit, if I'm traveling five hours for it, I'm determined to have fun, even though I feel like a big, sweaty, beached whale. BOOYA!
End of story. Move on with your evening.

Re: DH must really want to go camping...
You lost me at porta potty in the tent. Have fun!
I almost pee my pants when I try to get out of bed in the middle of the night... so my fear was that I'd never make it to the cottage on time LOL. But now... the magical porta-potty will be there to save me!
Have fun this weekend!!!
A total keeper. This is what I do when I want my way too! Buy everything to ensure we are doing what I want and everyone is happy!
Now, have fun and remember for help when getting out of that comfy chair...I would hate to hear that you slept in that all weekend.
That is super sweet! My DH and I went camping last month and he was a trooper too. Growing up, my family was outdoorsy but DH's was extreme. I had to put my foot down and say that there was no way we could backpack in to a campsite 3 miles from the car at 25 weeks pregnant. (He offered to take a couple of trips and carry everything himself but I still wasn't convinced) Once we abandoned the backpacking plan, he was all for keeping my ubber comfy: air mattress, etc. We had a ton of fun and I hope you enjoy your trip too!
