Flipping a breech baby...I'm doing it wrong

I think...

Baby was breech at my u/s last weekend, and today my obgyn advised me to lay on the floor with my hips raised about a ruler's height about the ground. Basically just bring the hips above the heart, right?

I grabbed our couch cushions and made what seemed like a comfy perch for my rear, then laid back.

Welllll that hurt like hell. It hurt my back, and it hurt my lower abdomen. I laid in this way for about five minutes before I had my husband help me up, and then I had a bad headache for about 15 minutes.

What am I doing wrong? Would this work if I tried it on the bed?

  • your baby still has time to rotate...i know some friends that their LO flipped around up until close to delivery....  Even if you did get your LO to flip today -he/she may rotate back...

I wouldnt stress about it as of yet...unless your doctor says otherwise.

  • Get on your hands and knees and rock. Put an ice pack near the baby's head and he or she should move away from the cold. You can also shine a flashlight near the baby's head and they should try to move away from that. GL!

  • My DS flipped completely on his own at 37 weeks - I did nothing to help.

If you want to do something - check out spinning babies - they have some tips that might help.

  • Not sure. My Dr doesn't check until week 37 on position via us. I have heard of people who have gone to a chiropractor and acupuncture and it worked for them.

This I will try! Checking out the spinning babies site...

I wasn't too concerned this early on, but I absolutely do not want a cs.

But, this being said, I felt a foot in my ribs for the first time today, which was awesome. I pushed it out, and I could see her teeny foot sliding down the side of my belly before it tucked in. Coolest thing I've ever seen. So perhaps she's right ways round now. I have no idea.

  • My co-worker's baby was breech until the week before she delivered. In those last couple of weeks she said she would go on her hand and knees for 10 minutes at a time a couple of times a day.

You will know next time she gets hiccups. I feel them reaaaaaly low.
