Cycle change after D&C?

Hello ladies,

I had a D&C after a blighted ovum at 8.5 weeks in March. Prior to the D&C my cycles were typically 43-46 days long. I was surprised when my first true cycle after the D&C was only 32 days. If you had a D&C did your cycle times change after? Just wondering if it was a fluke or if I'm now going to be blessed with shorter cycles.

The easy answer is yes, your cycles can and often do change drastically after a m/c, and particularly after a D&C. For some (like you, it sounds) they blessedly shorten; for many of us, though, they lengthen. (My D&C was in January and I have only had one period since then, and it was medically induced.) Most girls here will tell you that it can take up to six months post-m/c for your cycles to go back into any kind of regular pattern.

Yes your cycle can change after a D&C. I wouldn't get too excited about your new "normal" though until you have a couple cycles under your belt. The first AF after a D&C can be different and you can't judge it too much. For me, the length of my cycles have stayed the same but the flow changed after my last D&C. I now have a lighter flow than I did before.
