TTC After a Loss

Took a little break (long)

Hi ladies, I took a little break after last week. I just got into a very bad place and nothing seemed to help. I am doing okay now. I went out to dinner with DH and my parents for my birthday. My mom got me a bracelet where you add the beads and a baby cakes cake pop maker.

I would really like a fresh start, especially since today is my birthday. I would like to share my story again, hopefully that is okay. I think that it will help.

I went off the pill in November 2010, I got a BFP right away and we weren't trying yet. It was quite a surprise and we were very excited. Everything was normal, I met with a medical assistant at 6 weeks and had bloodword drawn. Everything was perfect. I had my first visit with the doctor at 9 weeks, he commented that I felt small for 9 weeks and sent me down for an ultrasound. They found an empty sac measuring around 6 weeks. I was a mess, DH wasn't with me, I felt alone. I went back at 11 weeks to confirm and chose to have a D&C after the doctor explained a natural miscarriage. I chose to do so without even looking at DH. I felt this went on long enough and it needed to end.

My doctor was unavailable so I had my D&C 2 days later with another doctor in the practice. She was amazing, even though I met her minutes before my surgery. It was an easy procedure and I had no complications. The doctor talked to DH and my parents and the procedure only took about 15-20 minutes. I went home a few hours later. I stayed home for about 5 days after to recover. It took a while for AF to return and she did not become regular. I went back to the doctor in July and he drew bloodwork and it turns out I wasn't ovulating.

I took my first round of clomid 50mg on my next cycle, which was September 2011. The drew bloodwork during the cycle and I did ovulate. I got a BFP that cycle but had a chemical pregnancy at 6 weeks. It was terrible pain, I spent the whole night awake and alone. I decided that I was going to keep going to work and I did. I was in pain and it was not comfortable but I do think that if I would have stayed home, I would have been worse off. I chose to see a counselor which helped to have someone to talk to but she did not help me or give suggestions as how to cope. I stopped seeing her in March 2012.

I had an RPL panel bloodwork drawn in October 2011. Everything came back normal. I don't know everything they tested for but I remember one of them was lupus. I also had an SHG in January 2012. It also came back normal. It was uncomfortable but I did okay. DH went with me but stayed in the waiting room.

We are currently on cycle 5 TTCAL. I canceled the appintment I made out of haste last week. We will keep trying on our own until my annual appointment in November. We currently BD EOD from CD 10-20 per doctors suggestion. If I notice EWCM we might throw in an extra BD. I do not temp because my sleep pattern is very irregular and I often have difficulty sleeping and have to take something to help me sleep. I thought about opk but I am not sure how that would work as a teacher. It might be okay for the next cycle this summer.

I appreciate all of the support, you ladies have been nothing but wonderful to me.

    Welcome back!

Have you thought about using a Clearblue monitor? You use your first urine in the morning so you don't have to worry about testing outside of home. I have one and I love it.

  • Hugs and welcome back. I wasn't sure about opks either (I do chart through). I had to start using them two cycles ago per Dr's orders for a follow up appointment to random cycle spotting and I've continued using them. I'm glad I did. FWIW though, I just use FMU. I know it's not the best option but I can't hold it very long. It works for me and I've been able to pinpoint my surge.
