  • Congrats!  DH's cousin has triplet boys.  They are 4 now & so amazing.  It is a lot of work in the beginning (what baby isn't?), but so rewarding.  She carried them until 35 weeks and only one had to stay in the NICU & that was only for 5 days.  GL!

  • Congrats, what a tremendous BLESSING! I'm sorry the ladies on the other board were so rude to you. Some people can be over-sensitive!

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34

Thanks you guys are so sweet! I posted on the multiples board and a lot of them were nice, one lady kept telling me how my terminology about multiples was wrong and that I have way more to worry about then names (I jokingly said that my one boy and one girl name weren't going to cut it) but I guess not everyone is nice and helpful

Wow, what a surprise! I think I would have fallen off the table! Congratulations!

As for what you were told on the multiples board, they probably weren't trying to necessarily be rude or mean, more likely they were approaching you with suspicion. If I am not mistaken that board in particular has had a lot of problems with people introducing themselves with "fake" multiple pregnancies. So a person with no bump history who posts their very first post as an intro with triplets will be met with skepticism. I am sure that once things progress and they get to know you better all will be well and you'll learn a lot from those ladies.

  • Goodness!  Congratulations!  And I have to say, as hard a time as I have picking names that would have been my first thought! lol!  Good luck to you and who cares about terminology.  I'm 8 weeks and 2 days also, but I have not been to the doctor yet so as far as I know we are only cooking one here!  So excited for you!

People don't like it when you refer to your babies as natural because it makes it seem like theirs are unnatural if they had help getting pregnant. It doesn't just apply to multiples.

Yes I realize that, and I meant no offense. I was just in shock and there are nice ways to help me learn that :) Thanks! I will be sure to use the right terminology now (Plus I am learning a lot about it now... and will continue to for quite some time :P)

Christ on a cracker...get over it.

She wasn't rude to you, not even a little bit.  Everything she was said was true and she was just trying to be helpful.  You'll realize that when you get your head out of the clouds.  Also, if I had walked into my doctor's office expecting triplets and he/she had told me that they didn't forsee any problems with a triplet pregnancy AND they'd not had much experience I would run (not walk) the other way and look for a more competent and experienced doctor.  Even if he/she was just telling you that to ease your mind, it's still not really helpful or realistic.  Multiple pregnancies, especially triplets, are very, very rarely without issue.

    This exactly.

Also, ditto running from an OB who thinks a triplet pregnancy will not have any problems. I 'only' had twins and was still on bed rest for 8 weeks before they were born at 35 weeks. It's incredibly exciting to be pregnant - especially when it is a first pregnancy and multiples to boot - but it's important to have people in your life who will keep you grounded and remind you that you're already 8 weeks into the most important battle of your life. It's going to be a tremendous battle to carry your babies long enough that they won't need to be in the NICU and perhaps impossible to carry them full-term. That's all we're trying to help you realize. And while it's exciting and precious and puppies and rainbows when they hold hands walking across the yard, you have to remember that it was a tooth and nail fight to get to that point.

  • I am really very sorry and didn't mean to offend any one. I was HIGHLY emotional and I guess I took it out here. To be honest I was completely freaking out. I am a first time mom and never imagined having triplets. I knew there was a chance I could conceive twins (I often ovulate from both ovaries every month, I have been through tons of tests since I was sixteen because of very painful periods) but triplets were never on my mind. I am  young (24 yrs old) and a ftm. I am scared I will fail at keeping these babies in me as long as possible and I am scared I wont be a good mom. Then of course I was online doing tons of research and the amount of things that can go wrong have me terrified, but I have always been a very positive person so I was just trying to "stay strong". Any way I am in the process of getting a new Dr, one more equipped to deal with my pregnancy. I am very sorry for being so rude and will leave the forum.

If you're for real, don't check out of here, you can learn a lot and it's a great resource. Triplet mama here. It's overwhelming. It's intimidating. And yes, names are a problem. Get a new doctor, one with multiples experience. Get a perinatologist (or MFM) to do scans and make sure it looks okay. And if you have that u/s picture we can help you figure out if they are all in one sac or in seperate (which makes a big difference in terms of complications)!
