So, I'm a FT mom and I had my last shower yesterday. I was going through everything today and I have about 32 NB onesies, 18 bottles, and multiple items of other things..my big questions is do people really use itmes like bottle warmers and wipe warmers? I have had some friends tell me they never even used theirs, but I wanted to see what other moms did.....
Re: Bottle Warmers and Wipe Warmers
Def no wipe warmer, mold can grow in there. Think about it, warm, moist environment...
We used our bottle warmer. We got a first years one and it worked really really well at first but after 5 months it wouldn't warm as well, we had to use it twice for one bottle...it was useless after a while. So, if you do get one, look at reviews.

best advice i got was that most kids won't know the difference if they are just started out on cold/room temp ones.
A good friend of mine only ever used room temp water for baby's bottles so that when they traveled, they didn't have to stop and find a microwave to warm it up but could just use a fresh bottle in the car. makes sense to me so we didn't register for either.

I've heard mixed reviews on bottle warmers. We never used one and never felt like we needed one. Wipe warmers seem like the most ridiculous thing to me.
18 bottles also seems excessive, but maybe that's just me.

I guess I assumed they were all the same size, we never bought 4 oz bottles (why not just put 4 oz in the 8 oz bottle?) so 8 total worked for us. But yes, if they are different sizes then I can see having more.

I wanted a wipe warmer because a friend of mine has one and swears by it because when her LO needs a change in the middle of the night, he barely wakes up with the warm wipes and falls back to sleep right afterwards. When I brought it up, my SO laughed and said it was ridiculous...so we didn't get one. I still want one, lol!
As for the bottle warmer, I think it's unnecessary. I watch my friend's LO and I just heat his bottle up in a shallow pot of hot water on the stove for 45 seconds. It's not inconvenient at all.
SCANDAL!
i'm registered for both.
i hear the wipe warmer is useful if you are using cloth wipes. you can put your own solution in them to keep cloth wipes moist. you do need to change it out and clean it regularly, though, from what i understand.
i'm also registered for a bottle warmer. i want it because a.) i'm a sissy in the cold and i personally would prefer to be eating warm stuff in the winter. i imagine the same would be preferred by a kid. i don't think i would mess around with it in the warmer months, though. and b.) it also warms jars of baby food. we're planning on making a lot of baby food that will likely be coming out of the fridge. i don't like using the microwave, so this seemed like a good alternative.
I am so in the minority here, but I had a wipe warmer and I loved that thing! DS never cried at diaper changes and babies HATE diaper changes. I used it up until he potty trained at 3. I need a new one cause its all yellow now.
I never had a bottle warmer, even though I wanted one. Now that I would say is not really necessary. Maybe a portable bottle warmer for the car? I would do that. I think that after about 5 months we stopped warming bottles though. It becomes a PITB and when you're out, it so much easier to just give it to them cold or room temp.

I used a wipe and bottle warmer for my 1st child...got him spoiled to liking everything warm...a big pain when we weren't home to use the warmers! My son is 4 years old and still won't drink milk unless it's warm...such a pain in the rump!
I did not use them for #2, but we did cut the chill in my daughters formula by using room temp water.
Now for #3, we borrowed a bottle warmer from a friend, just in case baby has any issues taking cold bottles...but I don't think we'll use it to be very honest.
The wipe warmer will not be used in my house...huge waste of money IMO.
I didn't register for either, but my hubby was so proud when he bought a wipe warmer from a coworker for $5. We'll try it out and see how it goes.
For a bottle warmer, I had a friend suggest putting a crock pot on low and kept it on throughout the day when her kid was young to warm up bottles whenever. Crock pots are energy efficient + use to being on for long periods of time. Plus you may already have one!
