standing in the crib

Do you just let them stand and eventually lay back down? Naps are terrible now because it takes a good 30 minutes for her to settle down. I have tried just letting her go but today it was a good 25 minutes of playing around...so I went in and laid her down a couple times over and over again, and she eventually passed out. Help please!

  • Same here. Nap time or bedtime I have to go in more than a hand full of times and lay her back down and tell her to go to sleep. You're not alone

Ditto here. Well actually, good news is, it has gotten better. 2-3 weeks ago I posted about this very thing, he was doing it for all naps and bedtime. Luckily now, he has only done it at bedtime a couple of times in the past couple weeks, and naps not really at all.  I have read to not lay them down, but seriously, naps can't take all day, so I was going in for naps, whether laying him down, or rocking him a bit to make him more drowsy. Bedtime I tried the laying thing, but that only made him cry, so I left him and he'd settle with usually no tears within 20-30 mins. and lately has just been laying down again instead. I think it really is just a stage where they need to explore and adjust to their new perspective given new abilities. Hope it passes quickly for you too!! :)

  • I don't go in to lay back down.  Eventually they do lay back down.  Today it took DD 40 minutes of playing before falling asleep.  They will get over it and it will get old.

This. It isn't standing here (DD cannot stand yet), but sitting, kneeling, etc. And I don't go back in, she can sit there all she likes, but she needs to nap, so I let her figure it out. Like PP, it can take awhile, but she does eventually lay down and fall asleep.

So long as he's not crying I leave him be. He can take well over an hour. I've watched him on the monitor and sometimes it's not just standing, he's tossing and turning trying to get the sweet spot, others he stands or plays a while. But if we skip a nap and I go to put him down at the next one it's pretty instantaneous.
