Babies: 9 - 12 Months

What do you give a 10 month old with constant runny nose???

Hi ladies!  D has been having a severe runny nose for the last day and a little cough due to the drip.  Is there anything I can give him to help him out?  He is eating well and his mood is fine.  10 months old and still no teeth.  Could it be attributed to teething??    Thanks for any help!

  • Our baby has a runny nose right now as well. For the most part we don't really give her anything. If it gets really stuffy we give her some saline to help her out. You can buy them at the drug store. Its just a bit of salt water that you put in their nose. It helps to break down the clog. We use Hydrasense. It comes in little tubes.

  • My daughter seems to get a runny nose when there's a big weather change I guess allergies. Anyway we give Benadryl but ask your pedi for the dose. Also my pedi had a sample of nasohist that dried her up in no time. We also use the boogie wipes they help a lot.
  • You can try saline and suction but for the most part you need to let it run its course. An my LO did get runny nose with some of his teeth so it could be teething!

  • My pedi ok'd the use of benedryl for runny nose.  It helps alot! The package says not to give to children under 2 BUT the pedi gave me a chart to use for the dosage. My peanut weighs 18 lbs and we give him 1/2 teas.

  • I just took DS to the pedi last week for this issue. She said if he's really stuffy at night, to give him a little benadryl if it's causing him not to sleep. Use my humidifier and tylenol/ibuprofren to manage the fever. Saline in his nose and my nosfrida to keep the snot at bay (impossible task if you ask me lol). She said not to bring him back unless his fever went over 104 or if he had signs of an ear ache or white throat. He coughed and sneezed and snotted for about 4 days then he was totally fine.
