We think we found a place :D

So we went out looking at rentals today and we found the perfect one. Quite street, very nice (and safe) area, walking distance to the beach that has a wonderful playground. Its perfect. And at first I didn't even want to look at it. DD had fallen asleep and I was getting pretty tired myself so i was ready to be done for the day. And well its got an ugly red porch but after seeing the inside I can deal with it. 

The floors need to be re-sanded before we could move in and after DH mentioned he has done that before the realtor suggested we put in an offer to redo the floors our self for a reduction in rent. Even if they don't accept our offer its a great place and I hope no one else has put in an offer before we did.

I am hoping we hear back on Monday so we can start planning our escape to this great new place.

    T&Ps, fingers crossed, doin' a little apt. getting raindance!  We bought our home when I was 8 wks...I know how stressful it can be waiting for the counteroffer/approvals/etc., I can't imagine that coupled with a LO!  GL!  Now are you staying in CA or did you move back to the East Coast?

    Nice, yes ask if you can do the work and get a reduction in rent.  

    My parents did this when I was younger.  We rented a house.  My dad installs windows for a living so he made a deal to replace one window per month and take some money off the rent each month.  My parents got cheaper rent and the owners got new windows, it worked out great for everyone.  

    Any other work my parents wanted to do (remove wallpaper, repaint, etc) they just asked and usually the owner was ok with them doing it and taking it off the rent - as long as they didn't do a ton at a time.

    East Coast :( Wish wecouldgo back to Cali (hoping one day that will be in the stars but I know that will not be for many years of not decades) We are in NY state current;y but are looking at properties in Connecticut cause that is where DH is working.

    Yay that's great news!  I hope you get it so you can move out and get settled in time for #2.  What an exciting week for you guys!
