tap water

After reading a previous post about parabens, I started thinking about the fact that I still drink tap water.  Is it reall all that dangerous?  I can barelyl afford groceries let alone bottled water right now so it the only alternative.  Anyone else still drinking from the tap?

Re: tap water

  • We have a water filter on our faucet. We also buy a large case of bottled water from Sam's Club, then we will reuse the bottles for a while, after they have been used two or three times we recycle them and take out new bottles.

I haven't seen the previous post about parabens, so I'm not really sure whats going on!!

I think it would depend on your area.  my father used to work for a water department and the city he worked for had strict guidelines for filtration.  Where we are now, they are still good,  but I have a filter in my faucet.  I don't see it as a problem.

  • Absolutely. I think tap is safer than bottled. The chemicals in bottled water from the plastics gross me out.

  • I only drink tap unless I was out for a long time and needed a bottle of water.

Interesting article I read a few years ago on the matter:

  • My uncle works for a water department in the state of Washington. I asked him about this once and he said I should have confidence in my city's water system since guidelines are very strict.

Also - many bottled waters don't have fluoride and tap water does. Fluoride is important for your developing baby.

This! We have well water and I feel even better with it than "city" water since I know nothing has been added. We have our water tested once a year so I know its ok. You can pick up a water sample testing kit at home depot and have your tap water tested to know you are ok.

  • Tap water can actually be good for you. It contains fluoride which is important for healthy teeth (which are SUPER important during pregnancy). I would say unless you have a breakout of something in your water supply (you can ask your water company) you will be fine and you should drink it to keep your teeth healthy :)
