Ladies w/ an anterior placenta...come on in

Hey ladies,

I have an a/p and definitely am starting to finally feel the baby a lot more (yay!) It feels like he's kicking/hanging out really low!

I was just wondering if/when you started feeling kicks from the outside and/or seeing movement?

I know as he gets bigger, I won't have a problem, but I'm just feeling impatient today, ha ha! TIA!

Re: Ladies w/ an anterior placenta...come on in

  • I suppose its all different for each person but DH has been able to feel kicks on the outside for a few weeks now--maybe starting at 22 weeks or so? I havent noticed seeing the movement on the outside but she is most active at night when Im usually in bed in the dark so I havent really been watching either so maybe its happening, maybe its not.

On the other hand, I also had an a/p with DD#1 and DH couldnt feel movement from the outside until closer to 30-32 weeks ;(

  • DH was able to feel a few really low kicks last Saturday at 22 weeks.  None since then though.  I have not seen the belly move either, but feel movement.  :)
  • My DH occasionally feels kicks on the outside. I feel them all the time now. This is my most active baby.........

As for the "seeing" movement, it won't happen for me for a while. Probably the last month.......

  • My husband started feeling him on the outside last week at 24 weeks, this week, right at 25 weeks he did a jig in my belly and we saw it but nothing really since then.  Anterior placenta sucks though, I just want to feel him more more more!

  • I've been feeling movement on the outside for a few weeks.  Most of the kicks, like you said, are pretty low.  I haven't really seen my belly move yet.

  • I unfortunately have not yet had the pleasure of feeling anything on the inside or outside.  I am starting to get very scared.  At my appointment a few days ago, I was told it could still be a few more weeks but then, I was told I am measuring small for dates as well.  I get to have a third u/s next week to find out what the heck in going on.  I am desperate to feel a flutter or a kick or anything at this point.

I have an anterior placenta and still haven't felt any outside kicks :( Just some flicking and poking inside. I thought last night I may have felt something, but he didn't perform again. Hopefully soon it will happen :)

  • I'd say within the last week I've been able to catch kicks on the outside and see movements. I had A/P with DD as well and this was about the same point I noticed that with her.
  • I have been feeling really low kicks like in my pelvic area since 22 weeks, but Wednesday I just started seeing outside kicks when I took a bath and they are getting higher.  DH still hasn't felt him though bc he's never around or the baby stops kicking as soon as he puts his hand on my belly.

  • I think for me it's been at least a month or so, especially in the last couple weeks.  I've also been feeling him since 14 weeks or so which is crazy since I have an a/p.  It took a bit longer with my second.

  • I just started feeling some movement the last couple days--but it's really faint and I'm not sure if it really is the baby or wishful thinking.  She was moving crazy at our scan last week, so I know she's ok and all.  But I really wish I could feel more (I know I'll be regretting this statement in the future, but it's how I feel dammit).  My husband has been putting his hand on my belly at night the past few days but he's probably going to wait for awhile--the u/s tech told us that it would probably be another month til he could feel the baby from the outside.  Sorry I can't be of more help, I just wanted to vent about having an a/p with ya!
  • Thanks for responding ladies!! It's so nice to know we're all in the same boat :)

  • I am behind a lot of you week wise, but just started to feel the flutters. Nothing from the outside. DH is dying to feel her, so this helps knowing it should only be a few weeks until that could happen.
  • The kicking has become unmistakable over the last week or so.  I was like, "There you are!"  Haven't seen anything yet, though.

I have an a/p and I started feeling inside movement around the 19/20 week mark. I felt my little girl on the outside about 22 weeks and my hubster just felt her move two days ago. FYI I'm 24 weeks Sunday. I haven't seen any movement on the outside, other than my hand jumping where she kicks it sometimes. Then again she usually likes to kick my cervix or really low unless I am laying on my left side. My OB suggested laying on my left side to try and get her to kick on me rather than the placenta. Now I feel her move every day, which eases my stress level SIGNIFICANTLY. Hooray for being a worry-wart!
  • I apparently have an anterior placenta, but I've been seeing and feeling outside kicks since about 19 weeks. The baby kicked my midwife at my 20 week appt.
