Our LO prefers his food thicker and chunkier. Is it safe to move on to the next stage of foods? One problem I see is many of them are combinations so we'd have to introduce the foods in the combo first (or at least one of them).
I asked my pedi about this yesterday. He said we could try it and see how DS did with it. We've been on the Stage 1 purees for a month or so and I'm excited for him to try new foods. The pedi said he might gag a little at first but he did that with the Stage 1 foods too. He also is a chowhound, eating 35+ ounces of formula and 2 jars of the Stage 1 food right now (and still only in the 25th %ile for weight) so I think he might be ready for the larger jars.
As far as the combos, a lot of the Stage 2 foods are combos of a Stage 1 food and a new one (so Sweet Potatoes and Apricots for example). The pedi said since DS had sweet potatoes as a stage 1, if something developed, we could reasonably assume it was from the apricots. My pedi did say to cycle through all the fruits and veggies before introducing the meat. Frankly pureed meat grosses me out so the pedi was fine with holding off on the meat until DS is older and can do some finger foods (which I think is circa 9-10 months or so).

We just switched last week. Honestly they are about the same, the stage 2 just have more in the jar than the stage 1.
