I'm hoping you ladies can possibly help me out... My LO is 15 days old and has caught my 5yo DS headcold and he is not gaining any weight. Dr is not concerned yet, but I have a feeling he may want me to supplement some feedings with formula.
I'm worried because I do not want to lose my milk supply. Do any of you moms have experience with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TY!
Re: Supplementing and maintaining supply
My pedi told me to supplement when my LO was losing too much weight (she proceeded to go from 7lb 3oz to 9lb 6oz in TWO WEEKS lol)
My supply did dwindle though, supplementing is usually the beginning of the end. But we're back to entirely BFing now with the help of endless pumping sessions! Just be sure that you try to BF first then give LO the bottle right after that, and pump WHILE LO has the bottle. Pump any time you're feeding her a bottle, this will keep your body synced with hers while also giving you a nice load of milk that you can give to her.
Good luck!

I wouldn't supplement...breastmilk is the best medicine. BUT if you do make sure you pump quite a bit to maintain supply!!! Hope baby feels better!!
