We're delivering @ Sturdy Memorial in Attleboro, MA. Its where I was born, most of my cousins they're a great family hospital huge maternity rooms and since there are usually only a few other laboring/recovering moms the nurses and doctors have lots of time and patience with you! We loved it there!
Married 5/2/09 To my best friend
Lillianna Faith Born 8/26/10- My big girl kindergartner!
Peach- MC 3/2012
Logan Christopher Born 2/3/13- My little fighter, cardiac defects, 2 cancer scares and more surgery, tests, MRIs, cat scans, xrays than most people would have to face their whole life.
We also had a bad MC experience with a W& I practice in Prov. so that also made our decision to go back easier

Still trying to decide. I am close to Memorial Hospital and it is smaller, which I like. But Women and Infants has the best reputation I think. Never thought about Sturdy, I'll have to check it out. Miriam doesn't do deliveries.
I have had 2 very good experiences at W&I and with my birthing history, think that is the best place for me. I am jealous of those who have the whole maternity ward to themselves though when going through Kent or Landmark...I hear wonderful things about both.
I added Sturdy and changed Miriam to Memorial so now you can vote!
I chose Kent because I really liked my OB the first time around, and she had decided to only deliver at Kent. Fine by me - it's much closer to my house than W&I (which would have been my second choice). Turns out I really like the small-hospital atmosphere. I happened to have a quick labor (<8 hours from first ctx to delivery) and I had heard some bad stories about people kept waiting in Triage at W&I. They say second labors go faster, and I only spent 4 hours in the hospital for LO#1, so I'd be seriously worried I wouldn't get a room in time! Thankfully Kent is closer and you walk right up to L&D.
I also wanted (and had) a natural birth, and I got supportive nurses at Kent who were great about suggesting different positions and pain relief methods. I was one of 2 women who went into labor that night, so the L&D wing was very quiet. The postpartum wing was a little more busy, but that really didn't bother me at all. I didn't need the nurses attention at that point.
I've heard great things about Memorial and South County if you want to deliver naturally (pain-med free) and Memorial hospital has started doing gentle cesareans, which I think is great. W&I is great for any complications or concerns for mama or baby.
I picked W&I because I've had a few rough patches in my pregnancy and I just figured that just in case the complications cause other issues I should be at W&I where the specialist are. My Dr. also pointed out that if my complications do cause any issues with the baby that if I'm at any of the other hospitals they will send the baby to W&I...they would send me too IF W&I had a room available. That kind of worried me because what do you do if they send the baby there and I'm at Kent.
I know tons of people who love Kent but if you have any issues it's probably best to just go to W&I where they have seen it all. My mom even works at Kent so it would have been kind of cool to deliver there but for me it just wasn't worth the stress.
if you have complications run as far as you can from w and I . The dr diagnosed me with gas pain the resident on duty was right on the money when she told me she wait till the contraction was over. needless to say I ended up back at w & I er the next day when my water broke and they let me know I was going to lose my son at 21 weeks pregnant and they weren't sure if they were going to lose me as well. my son lived for an hour. The maternity ward nurse sent someone to pray with me and she had a lady 6 months pregnant come. broadway obgyn is awful. the head dr doctor brasco let me leave with these so calllef gas pain and he is the one that told me I was fine and I would be able to go the next day to my appt. that night is when my water broke and I had the deadly infection. I was considered high risk from the beginning of the pregnancy and never saw a high riske dr.

Hi all! I just found this board tonight. I chose Westerly hospital because it's only 5 minutes from my house. We were looking into Women & Infants, which is about 40 minutes away, but ultimately chose Westerly.
I voted Memorial because that's where I delivered my son. However, I plan to do home birth for my next so long as the next pregnancy doesn't have any complications.

This makes me sad, because I have Broadway OB and if it wasn't for Dr. Ramos I or my son may not be alive today, or at a minimum it is a miracle I still have a uterus to be able to be pregnant again. I am terribly sorry for your loss.

I know I am a little late to the party on this one, but I am delivering at Landmark in Woonsocket. I delivered by scheduled c/s my first dd and had a wonderful experience. The nurses are so awesome and it is a great local community hospital. Good luck.
DOes anyone know the policy at W&I and RI Memorial for private rooms? Does everyone get a private room after delivery? Or do you have to pay? (I moved from NYC where we paid $3000 for a private room!)
