My son will be one soon and I can't decide on a theme. I'm looking at Winnie the Pooh-is that ok for boys? Teddy bear or Elmo? I'm having a hard time because I want to coordinate the cake with decorations and they mostly have winnie, sesame street etc....
What did you do or would you do???
Thanks!
Re: Help me decide 1st birthday theme!
We went with Birthday party as a theme, call us crazy!
Colorful balloons, plates, cake etc...
I'm not a fan of characters so I did bright colors. It was really simple. The only theme we had was Jack in the box invitations and a Jack in the box cake. We had two hundred red, blue, green, and yellow balloons floating on the ceilings of our house, red, blue, green, and yellow plates, cups, flatware, and napkins.
We gave away full size bottles of Gazillion Bubbles with thank you tags as favors.
I am not a fan of character parties at all... i'm sure i'll do them someday when DS is older and really wants one - but for 1 y/o it's all about what I wanted
we did a farm theme- which was SO much fun to do - there are a billion ideas out there (on the net) for fun theme related stuff.
i have a ton of photos of what we did if you do decide to do farm- page me and i'll post a link.
Here are my cakes to pick from

I don't want a sports theme and they have a lot of characters. Which do you like???
If you go into the store they will have more options. The decorators can get pretty creative.
We did construction from birthday express. ?

we did a cupcake theme also for dd for her 1st birthday. It was just like this one but pink. We did cupcakes & cupcake shaped cookies. I got the cupcake banner and balloons. It was really cute. Plus you could get a shirt from ebay or somewhere that says my 1st birthday with a cupcake on it for your dc.

I don't really like character parties either. Plus, for Ds's 1st b-day he would not have known the characters anyway! We did a monkey themed party. With yellow and brown for the colors. I made a cake shaped like a monkey head and monkey cupcakes. It turned out really cute. DS loves monkey's and we have called him our "monkey boy" since he was born. Good luck! Planning is so much fun!
Next year, we are going to do a farm theme.
