Does your 6 week old wake to feed at night?

My daughter is 6 weeks old and has been sleeping for up to 7.5 hours at night.  Do I need to wake her to feed at this point?  She was in the 90th % for weight at her 1 month appointment, but she was waking once at night to feed at that point.  I'm wondering if I should call the ped to ask, but thought I'd check here first.

  • If shes beyond birth weight, I'd let her sleep!

  • I would let her sleep. Generally, they say once a baby is back up to their birth weight, you don't need to wake them to feed.

  • We still wake multiple times each night to feed.  if she is gaining weight I would leave her be and enjoy the sleep!

  • At my 2week apt, my pedi told me that if DS can sleep through the night, let him sleep!  This is not the case obviously but once they are past birth weight, no need to wake them at night!!

  • Let the baby sleep!! Like pp said once they've reached birth weight let them sleep and enjoy!! I thought our 3-5 hours were great my 19 month old still only goes 7 hours.

  • Like all prior posters said let LO sleep! (And enjoy it!!!!!!!!!)

Be prepared that LO may start to wake up to nurse at night during growth periods. If she is such a great sleeper these phases are likely to be temporary (several days or weeks).
