Dd has been on Zantac for about 3 months to help control her reflux. About 2 weeks ago, she started this odd long blinking when she was eating. Then Bout 3 days ago, she started having what seems like an involuntary twitch, ear to shoulder. Couple times a day. Also, this odd hint where she turns her head back and forth or lays her head down, forehead to whatever there is to lay on. The ped is having us go to get an EEG soon, and I pray she is ok! The ped says it all could be simply her immature ervius system etc. anyone else have experience with side effects from Zantac?
Re: I am completely freaking out. Zantac and side effects
Thank you for your reply, it actually does ease my mind! Thank you!
Our ped said that she is probably uncomfortable from the reflex and that is why she does the blinking. She does have an ear infection and that could be why she is doing the twitch with her ear to her shoulder. I will for sure let you know what the eeg says. Have you asked your Ped about it? How long has she been doing those things?
We haven't told the pedi because we chalked off the blinking as attributable to the skin problem. That's been going on since we started solids, so about 2 months. The shrugging started maybe two weeks ago. She also does the thing where she pushes her forehead against our chests or the floor, but I really think that's just because she's desperate to get up on all fours and crawl.
I have such mixed feelings about the Zantac as it is. Some people in cyberspace say that inhibiting the production of stomach acids results in their bodies going into hyperdrive and producing more stomach acid. But we've tried to take her off it twice and she couldn't hold food down or sleep on her back.
