Morning!
So I had an ultrasound this morning to check baby's weight and size and at 39 weeks he weighs 9 lbs 9 oz! I know ultrasounds are estimates, and let's say he's really 1/2 a lb less than that, do you think I can push him out?
Anyone deliver a 9 lb or 9lb + baby?
I would love to hear some success stories.
Re: 9 lbs 9 oz!
This is my first baby, so I don't have any first-hand experience, but my little brother was 9 lbs 8 oz and my mom had no trouble pushing him out. She didn't tear or anything. DH was 9 lbs 1 oz and his mom had him out in three pushes. My co-worker just pushed out a 9 lbs 14 oz baby.
GL! You can do it!
FYI - my girl friend was told her baby was 9 ilbs 13 oz and after 6 hours her labor stalled - doctor said it was the size of the baby - they did a cc section
Baby was 7 pounds 13 ounces and smaller head then her first. So Do what is comfortable for you - but don't let them push you into a C section if you don't want one..
I had a 9lbs 8oz baby last May. Vaginal birth. Med free. No tearing. Pushed 25 minutes. He was 1.5lbs bigger than my first child.
It's definitely possible but no lie - I'm trying not to do that again. I've completely cut refined sugar and white flour out of my diet this time as my doctor said it should help grow a smaller baby because I definitely have no desire to have a baby bigger than that. We'll see how much this one weighs in a few months!
Many woman do it and have successful births, but remember..every womans body is built differently! My SIL and my BFF had babies 2 days apart. My SIL's DD was 7lbs 7oz and she got 27 stitches and my BFF's son was 8lb and she got 6 stitches.
Also my brother and his wife had a little girl 4weeks ago. His wife was huge and the Dr.'s had her terrified. They where constantly telling her that it was a 'huge' baby etc... tried several times to coax her into a c section. They estimated the baby would be 9.5lbs to 10lbs... She stuck to her guns and opted for a normal delivery. Well my little niece was born weighing 6lbs 14oz's!!
I've heard this a lot. It was also mentioned extensively in a birthing class I took last week. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. They are just guessing at this point.
My second daughter was 9.8oz, 22.5 inches. I had her med free. Strangely, the pushing was the easiest part of the delivery- despite her being big enough to walk out- it only took 10 minutes.
So yes, it is possible, but I plan on getting some meds as soon as I walk through the door for this one if it starts measuring big. It is not an experience I feel the need to go through again.'
Don't be worried- those measurements on the US are often wrong, and even if they are not, you can totally do it.
Wow! They were way off! I'm really hoping my body can do this!

I didn't believe how big he was until they weighed him.
I just saw the doctor today and was told to prepare for another big one. Joy and joyness.
It can be done. Don't stress about the numbers and remember that u/s estimates are notoriously wrong.
My first was 9 lbs 15 oz and my second was 10 lbs 10 oz and I delivered both at home naturally. The second time (with the bigger baby) I didn't even tear.
Have faith that your body will grow the right sized baby for you!
Yes, you can push him out...my cousin had 3 babies all 9+ pounds each.
My Mom delivered two babies over that size without an epidural. Not because she wanted a med free birth but because she is kinda aloof and didn't realize that you had to do a class or pre register for epidural. With second she just forgot
BFF's SIL gave birth to a 12lb boy in a birthing tub no meds.
So yea women can push out big babies!
With that said I had a 9lb 10oz baby and my body just didn't ever really labor and she never dropped and I ended in emergency Csection.
Good Luck!
You can do it! Actually bigger babies can be easier to deliver vaginally. I have several girlfriends who reported a much easier delivery.
My mom had 6 kids with a range of 6 lbs to 9lb 9 oz. And not only that, two of use weighed 9lb 9oz!
BFP May 2017.
BFP November 2011 TWINS!!!. Lost a twin at 7 weeks. DS born VBAC.
BFP July 2009. DD born via c/section for breech presentation.
BFP Jan. 2009. Missed miscarriage at 9 weeks.D&C March 2010
December 2009 - Diagnosed with bicornuate uterus.
A close friend of mine had a baby over 10 lbs and didn't even tear.
They told me DS was going to be over 10 lbs too. He was 8lb11oz.
So yeah, don't freak out about it. You'll be fine. The last few weeks they are just putting on fat, not growing bigger skulls. Baby fat is squishy.
My MIL delivered 4 babies naturally.
#1 was 10lbs
#2 was 8lbs
#3 was 11lbs
#4 was....12lbs.
Size of the baby isn't the only factor that determines whether or not you can do it! She's not a big lady, either!
...baby #3 is here...
My DD was 8lbs 14oz so close to 9lbs..... I pushed her out- it took time and I won't lie- it was rough! But you can do it!!!
I was pretty narrow in the hips and was kind of nervous when they estimated her at 9lbs+ but we did just fine and you will too:)

P/SAIF Welcome
DS#1 was 9lb 5oz and I did a drug free labor with him since I waited to long to ask for anything. It wasn't pleasant, but I got the job done. Good Luck!
I was told my son was 9.5 lbs and he was born by c/s and weighed a whopping 7lbs 9oz.
I really wouldn't put too much stock in weight estimates.
DS2 8/21/12
DD 9/26/14
Baby #4 edd 2/11/19
I'm just ;urking over here but
DD1 was 9 lbs, no issues but needed two stitches.
DD2 10lbs 2 oz, no issues, no stitches.
I think position is more important than size of baby.

Wow - your MIL was ahead of my mom
Baby #1 (me) - 9lbs, 9oz
Baby #2 (brother) - 10lbs
Baby #3 (little sister who is now 6 feet tall) - 11lbs
Not sure what that means for me
Thank you! I really hope I can do this...and I hope he weighs less than what the ultrasound says.
