Thoughts on using the same name as SS's 1/2 brother?

We really want to name the baby after my Dad- Charles. BUT, my step son has a 1/2 brother named Charley already. We are all pretty close so there would be massive confusion with Charlie and Charley. At least that's what DH and SS think. We don't like Chuck or Chas for a nickname and DH does not want to call a baby Charles. What are your thoughts? Too confusing?

After 6 long years of TTC and a traumatic birth... I finally got to hold my baby in my arms!

2007 Start w/ RE (Endo and MFI previous marriage)/ 2008 Vericocele surgery/3 clomid cycles
2009 Lap removed stage III endo/ 2 failed IUI/ Divorce

2011 Remarried
October 2011 Dx: Endo & DOR/ November 2011- clomid & TI cycle
January 2012 IVF~ Flare protocol 10 ER/ 9 mature fertilized with ICSI/ ET- 2 Grade A Blasts/ 4 frozen= BFN
Febuary 2012- -Endo Biopsy/ MTHFR diagnosis
March 8- FET 2 grade A blasts= BFP!!!!

November 2012- Charles was born by emergency C-Section

Dealing with:
Stage III Endo/ DOR/ MTHFR two mutations C677T & A1298C

Currently TTC #2 FET planned January 2014

I think the mn option is all you have here. Although I do know people who's half siblings from different marriages have the same name, but I think they were born before the marriage happened.

I wouldn't do it. As a middle name I think it would be fine, but as a first name - too confusing! Sorry..

So your step son would have two half brothers named Charlie? I wouldn't do it. Middle name for sure.

Use it as the middle name. I wouldnt use it as a FN. Too confusing.

What about doing Charles Joseph and call him CJ?

I think it's too confusing, especially for SS, who will always have to specify which one he's referring too. I'd use it asa MN.

My DH's name is Charles also, but he goes by Chachi. He doesn't love it, but it's a NN choice for your DH that isn't Chuck, Chas or Charles.

Very confusing, which is unfortunate since it is such a good name. I would definitely use it as a mn.

I'd mn it too. But I've heard of Chase and Chip as a nickname. Or like the pp suggested and use initials.

I'd say your only option is for a MN. Two brothers named Charlie is too much.
