NBR: washer/dryer spot question

The last couple of days either my washer or dryer has been leaving weird spots on our clothes. It looks like a wet spot, but it's not wet and I can't remove the spots now. This ever happen to anyone? Anything I can try to fix it or figure out the problem? Or do I have to buy a new washer/dryer??

Re: NBR: washer/dryer spot question

  • Do they look like oil stains? Do you use fabric softeners? If so, it could be your fabric softener leaking out onto your clothes incorrectly. Some washers do not distribute the fabric softener correctly and the ingredients in a lot of popular softeners leave greasy like stains. We had this happen to us after we got brand new stackable washer/dryer in our apartment. Ended up having to get a downy ball to use the softener because I was having to use a stain fighter to get out those grease like spot stains on nice shirts!

If its not softener related I'm not quite sure what it could be. Hope I helped though, nothing is more annoying than having random spots/stains and not knowing where they came from!

  • It sounds like detergent / softener stains. When I used a laundry mat I had this issue a couple of times.

  • It sounds like you need a new belt in the washer. If your husband is handy he can do it himself- they are easy to replace. But that's the signs of needing a new belt.
  • Good suggestions, ladies! Thanks. We're going to look at it tonight. Hopefully it's something Hubs can fix. I don't feel like paying for a new washer & dryer right now!
