I can't brush my teeth!

So far I have not really had any m/s. every now and then certain things don't appeal to me and sometimes if I have to chew a lot, that doesn't always sit well with me. But I haven't had any constant nausea or anything at all. But, brushing my teeth is killing me. Especially in the AM. it makes me gag every time and this morning it made me throw up..a lot. Sorry tmi! This happened to me once before soon after I got my BFP, so a couple weeks ago maybe. The worst part about throwing up when u brush? Having to re-brush.   Anyone else not have m/s but can't handle brushing?

  • I had this last time.  My dental hygenist told me that if I can handle it, brush with just water, no toothpaste, and try to use a mouthwash, like ACT.

  • On  my last pregnancy that's what happened to me for all 9 months, no m/s but gagging when brushing my teeth. My trick was to brush it really slowly, taking deep breathes, and not keeping a lot of foam in my mouth.

  • I get a little nausea from time to time but it really is the worst when brushing my teeth as well.

  • I always have m/s while pregnant, but I also had this particular problem while pregnant with my second daughter.  I actually asked my dentist if he had any tips - he did not.  I found, though, that if I breathed through my mouth while brushing (not so easy to do), I would not gag as much.  I will admit, though, we got to the point where the brushing didn't always get done, since sometimes it would end with a bunch of vomit in the sink.  Hope it gets better for you.

  • I've been gagging while brushing too and switched to floride-free toothpaste.  It didn't make it stop but made brushing a little more tolerable.  Maybe it would help?

  • Thank you everyone, I appreciate your tips! I think it's more the brush/brushing that's making me gag and not so much the toothpaste. Ugh even thinking of it makes me feel funky but I'm not feeling awesome tonight. Not terrible, just a lil funky. I keep wondering if it's going to hit.... i just don't know! Hope you girls can brush your teeth again soon :)
