Decreased movement at 29.5 weeks

Good Morning August!

Yesterday morning I felt my baby girl moving a lot. If felt so werid like maybe she was turning. Since then I have had decreased movement. I have done the lay on your left side and count 10 kicks. I feel her, it's just so much less.

Anyone else notice this all of the sudden? I know that as they get bigger there is less room. I also know that if I am worried I should call my Dr. Not really looking for any of that, just simply curious if there was anyone else going through the same thing (hopefully not a loner on this)!!

TYIA!!

  • It was about two weeks ago I felt a decrease in movement and I was about to call the doctor when the next morning she was moving so much I could feel her flip. Call your doctor, though. It'll make you feel better.

  • I was that way...I ended up going in for monitoring and he was fine. Dr. said as he is getting bigger kicks will be less frequent and it will be more of a rolling/pushing sensation. He is definitely still moving, but it's less kicking and more subtle rolling/pushing at this point.

  • This happened to me as well this past weekend.  LO was moving a TON on Friday but then Saturday it seemed almost the opposite.  I just kind of chalked it up to him having worn himself out the day before.  He's back to normal now.  I would give it some time and see if your LO picks back up before calling the Dr.

My LO has Olympic days where s/he moves for 30-40 minutes at a time and then s/he has days where the movements are few and far between.  Also, mine doesn't really kick anymore...it's more just rolling around and those kind of movements.  You aren't alone in being worried when movements decrease, but if it makes you feel better, then definitely call your doctor.

Yeeep. He's running out of room so he doesnt have the space to rear back and kick real hard. I feel rolling and pushing and the occasional thuds now. As long as you're feeling some sort of movement, I wouldnt worry.

My baby's movements have changed a lot in the last two weeks or so. I gets Roma of pushing and like rolling of hands and feet but actual kicks are few and far between nowadays. If you are concerned though, call your doctor because it never hurts to call them if you feel uneasy. Movement isn't something to play with.

  • Thanks Ladies!! All of your answers really helped. I am feeling her moving around. I guess it totally makes sense that she is running out of room.

Wow!! You would think this is my 1st rodeo. Man, how it's easy to forget!!

I notice a day or two here and there where it's decreased. Just happened this weekend - but I was SO focused on it that I started to worry myself. Ended up baby started moving and and today it has been back to its normal busy self in there. I find the days I worry/obsess about it, it seems like baby moves less and if I just go about my day, thats when I feel it more?!

  • I noticed this a lot between 29-30 weeks. I went to L&D just for reassurance and low and behold, he was fine...just being lazy! Now, at almost 33 weeks, I wish he would decrease his movement just a tiny bit...and out of my ribs! Lol.
