We're pretty crunchy. We cloth diaper, I make all my own cleaning products, we've eliminated paper towels from our home, I make my own laundry detergent, etc.
What recipe do you use? Does it work well to launder CDs? I have been wanting to try this, but haven't yet.
I guess I could be considered crunchy. I breast fed exclusively, had a med-free birth (and hope to do the same again), cloth diaper, bedshare/co-sleep, and babywear. We feed him organic food for the most part and it's a good mix between making it ourselves and the lazy mom shortcut of Plum Organic pouches. I'm not as great about being as healthy for myself though and I'm working on changing that. If I get better at wholesome food for us on a daily basis I'll probably do BLW for this one. I consider myself more attachment parent though

We do cloth during breaks (I teach school and daycare won't CD) and weekends. I love my cloth and have quite a few brands. If you're going to go the CD route, make sure to try a few brands before stocking up on 20 of one kind. You'll thank yourself (and wallet) later!

We CD, BF, BLW and baby wear. We didnt start of co-sleeping because DD kept DH up almost all night with her little noises. Now she comes in with us between 2 and 4 and it wirks great for us.
We do not do CIO but we also have a great baby and I hope I can continue with number 2
Both my babies were born at home. We have CDed since DD1 was three days old (a long time, since my 2.75-yr-old is very resistant to potty training) and currently have two in diapers. We also eat organic, practice holistic medicine and have your views on the big V. I also switched to mama cloth a year ago and have not looked back. It's nice to see other people with like minds on here.
I love all of this information! My DH actually mentioned making our own baby food. I was really excited about that. We do not eat a lot of processed foods and it does not make sense to give our LO something we would not eat. I never thought about it making the LO less of a picky eater down the road. My sister-in-law made all of the food for her first born. He is a great eater, loves vegatables, and will try anything. She did store bought food with her second. She is such a picky eater and loves processed, sugary foods. I never tied this to what they were fed as babies.
I definitely want to do CD and after reading these posts the growing a foosa blog, I feel much more confident about that choice. I will be in school full-time after the LO is born so daycare is a concern with CDs. My husband did tell me he would love to find a nanny! (he is full of surprises) so that would take care of that issue.
I've never considered myself "crunchy" I just try not to turn a blind eye once I'm educated on something. With our first we planned to cloth diaper solely to save the money and as I researched and prepped, I found out more about the environmental and health benefits of cloth. We love it and are so excited to cloth #2 as well. We did BLW so I started buying organic as much as I could for our whole family and we are slowly making our eating habits for DH and I much healthier- ex. we started with no longer buying hamburger helper type meals. And most recently, we are cutting out any canned food purchases from our groceries because of BPA.
I pick my battles so we don't get overwhelmed with trying to change our whole lifestyle at once (DH and I are both work full-time) and we want to create lifelong good habits, not quick fixes. Also, having a baby was definitely a great motivator!!
Ha! Maybe we're crunchier than I think we are... we also make our own cleaning supplies and don't use chemicals like bleach for anything... and love coconut oil remedies... breastfeeding... babywearing... try to buy !00% cotton products, not synthetic... sew...
We're moderately crunchy by most standards, but not crunchy for our area. We don't CD - I did for awhile, but I decided it was not for me. I did BF until 13 months strictly from the tap, except for months 2-6 when I was finishing up grad school. We do lots of baby-wearing, BLWing, some attachment parenting, some co-sleeping on and off for the first 7 months, and local/organic food eating. I plan to do all the same things again this time, but I may BF longer and I think I will try to offer a bottle once a week after the first month or two so we don't have to be home for every nursing session (I weaned DD at 13 months because she'd dropped all feedings except for the middle of the night and I was encouraged to cut that one for tooth health).
