Baby Shower Bust (vent) kinda long...

Long story of it is...

I just got back from a 3 week vacation in Fl, where I had a baby shower with friends I went to college with, some family friends and it was a good turnout and an overall good time.

Tomorrow is supposed to be my 2nd NC shower for about 10 friends I have here. (No family around; being military)

But at this point, aside from the friend who is throwing the shower for me, only 1 of them is coming and decided not to bail.

I know life happens and all, but seriously, we've had this date set aside since FEBRUARY (we had to rent a beach pavilion earrrrly). And now all of a sudden the week of the shower everyone has bigger and better things going on.

I can't help but feel hurt. I'm suuuuuper emotional anyways, so that doesn't help. They all apologized and say they wish they could come, they'll send their gift or give it to me another time...it's not ABOUT the gifts. I see showers as a way to hang out with close friends and family before having a baby and life changes.

Not really looking for advice. It's just really upsetting me. So now my "shower" is going to be me and DH, my friend and her hub and kid, and one other friend and HER hub and kid just spending the day at the beach and eating a ton of food that my friend already had bought and made for the party.

    I'm sorry that is hurtful! Hopefully they made up for it by leaving you some good gift cards!!!!!

    Yea I had no idea it was fathers day weekend when I booked the date, I was just going by the weekend after I got back to NC from FL. 

    Oh well. Can't go wrong with food and beach

    nope.  you can't go wrong.  it will still be a lovely day, but i totally get your feelings.

    most of our friends are triathletes and the summer is a REALLY busy race time.  there are races basically every weekend .  so, there are a lot of our friends that can't make it to our shower.  i feel your pain.  enjoy your day, though.  i'd kill for a ton of food and the beach :)

    I know its not what you were planning, but it still sounds like an amazing day to me! friends, hubby, food, beach???

    Thats my kind of a good time! Try to have still and not think about who is not there, but who is! ;)


    Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
    All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

    I know how you're feeling. For our "pre baby arrival party" hubby and u had 25 Yes's and 8 Maybes. Come the day of the party, only 8 people total showed up. I was definitely bummed, but it was good to be able to connect with those who came! :)

    This happened to me. I started with 20 people coming to my shower where I live and all of 6 people showed up. To be honest, I was soooo glad it happened that way. The people I wanted showed up, it was at my house bc I'm on bed rest, there was more food for me to eat. It was just nice to sit around and chat. I'm so glad it happened that way. You'll be surprised I think how much nicer your weekend will be.

    At least you had one shower with a good turn-out. I can understand being disappointed, but I'm sure you'll still have a great day at the beach with your friends and their families... maybe even more fun than you would have originally.

    Sorry you're disappointed, but hey, less food to share with others, right?  I know I'm always excited for extra food, especially cake.
