Mattress? (I know this has been asked a million times)

What mattress are you guys buying? That is the final thing we have to purchase for LO's nursery and I'm having a hard time picking. I'm concerned when every mattress I looked at has someone b*tching that the mattress was too small for the crib and they had to stuff towels between the crib and the mattress.

Also, how many coils does your crib mattress have?

I'm looking at getting either the Sealy Baby Firm (204 coils) or the Davinci Emily II (260 coils and reversible for the crib and toddler bed).

I'm leaning towards buying the Davinci because it's normally a $150 mattress and seems to "have it all" but it's on sale for $75 so it has me worried that there is something wrong with it. Thanks for any input ladies!

  • I bought the Sealy Baby and it fits nice and snuggly in our crib. I can't fit my fingers in between the edges of the mattress and the side of the crib, so it really does have a nice fit and puts my mind at ease. I also liked it because it was one of the only ones that I could find that really felt firm enough without feeling like LO was going to be laying on a piece of wood, haha.

  • We went with the Naturepedic Dual-Firmness mattress. It's a foam mattress.

It's a bit pricey, but I wanted an organic mattress. And I like that it's lightweight and has a toddler side.

  • I ended up going with the Sealy Soybean EverEdge Foam-Core mattress from BRU.  It was recommended by Baby Bargains so I already wanted to check it out, but of course I had to go around the store squeezing every single mattress until I was convinced this was the firmest one.  It was!  And with the 20% off coupon, I only ended up paying about $100 for it.  It fits the crib we have (Graco Sarah) perfectly with no gaps.

This exactly, except I got it for the Graco Lauren. Plus it is really light so it shouldn't be too hard to change.

We also went with the Naturepedic - DS has one as well. They are a little more pricey, but the things in mattresses are scary. I'm not a crazy all-organic lady or anything, but this is one purchase I thought it was necessary.

We went with this one - 252 coils.

  • We bought the Moonlight Slumber dual sided extra firm mattress, and I love it.  It fits perfectly in our Young America crib, is really firm/safe feeling, and was fairly reasonably priced for rating so well!

Ours was ordered from a local furniture store, and the originally told us 6-8 weeks and it came in at 2 weeks!!  It was great, but we hadn't finished prepping the room :). It all ended up working out!

  • Colgate Classica Foam Mattress.

It's lightweight, and really easy to take in and out of the crib for sheet change. And it fits perfectly in the crib (BSF brand).

It's on sale at both Babies R Us and Amazon so it makes me a little nervous for why it's on sale. But Davinci has 50% off all of their mattresses at BRU so maybe they are trying to push old inventory to release new lines?

Here is the BRU link (no instore pickup):

    https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3159624

And here it is on Amazon for the same price but it has free shipping and free return shipping. I think I'm going to buy this one, it has the most features I have seen on any mattress and the price is right. I can return it if it doesn't fit well in the crib.
