Gentlease v. Good Start

Which do you prefer and why?  I found that my baby does much better on GS than on the Enfamil Lipil.  I haven't tried Gentlease.  My only issue is that he is still EXTREMELY gassy (has to get drops,) and even though he's 12lbs + he'll still awaken almost hourly during the night.  (I don't know if that has to do with feeding or not, but I'm TIRED!)  Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Gentlease v. Good Start

  • I am curious too. I BF but supplement one FF bottle a day. We started with Enfimil Llpil but after having ?gas issues switches to Good Start Natural Cultures. She still does have some gas?issues?but not as much as before. If it doesn't get better after a month, I think we will try Gentlease.

  • I can't compare Gentlease to Good Start, but I can tell you that when we were BFing I gave 1 bottle of formula a night and we started out using Enfamil Lipil.  He had the worst gas from that!  So we switched to Gentlease and it worked very well to decrease the gas.  He is FF exclusively now and we are still using the Gentlease.  He loves it and the gas is so much less now.  HTH!
  • My first had colic/reflux, and after several different types of formula, we finally found that Good start (purple can w/o dha/ara) worked the best.  My second was colicky as well (no reflux) and did HORRIBLE on gentlease...so I came across some info about how some babies don't do well on the formula with DHA/ARA--so we switched to a regular store brand milk based formula w/o the DHA/ARA--and was a different baby after we switched formulas (over a course of a few days).
