If you have always lived in NJ do you know how to pump gas? DH recently bought a car that only takes diesel and I was telling a few friends at work that a lot of gas stations the diesel fuel is self service and I don't know how to pump gas so if I drive his car I will have to learn. They were shocked that I didn't know how to pump gas. I don't get why- I have lived in NJ my entire life and never drive far outside of NJ where I needed to get gas there. Am I really a minority in this state? LOL

Well I don't know about the OP, but I literally never have. Ever. I'msure I could if I like, got out of the car and looked. But I've never had to.

Yes, it's true. In NJ gas stations are full service.
Ha-ha, the only time I've pumped gas is when I was in college because I went to school in NY. I wonder if I still know how to. There's one plus for NJ - cheaper gas than the rest of the country and you don't do it yourself.
Where in NJ do you live?
Once in Florida I sat out by the pump laying on the horn before I remembered that other states have to pump their own gas. I'm sitting out there like an a hole going, 'Come ON! This is the worst service EVER!"
And yeah, it's ridiculous how cool you feel pumping your own gas. I make people take pictures of me to commemorate the moment.
Manahawkin right near LBI
I have done it and I know how, but I prefer not to if at all possible. The first time I had to do it, I was really young. I was so embarrassed but I had to ask the clerk inside to help me.
Lavallette/Seaside Park represent! My kid saw his first drug deal last weekend on the Seaside heights boardwalk.
PS - I had no idea you had to pump deisel yourself. My dad has a deisel truck and I don't think he's ever had to pump.

Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012. We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
I
Sleaside. I had an unforgettable time at my bachelorette party at Bamboo. The cops are tough there, our red plastic cup drinks cost us $200 each that night.
LMAO! I grew up in Toms River so Seaside is my old stomping grounds. I have spent many a late night at Bamboo, Sawmill, etc and bar crawls on the boardwalk was always a favorite thing to do! LOL
I live in Toms River--born and grew up in here
I went away for college, but that was it
Anyway, nope don't know how to pump gas--I mean, I guess I could---if I took the time to learn--but never had too.
It is a great time. Their long island iced tea should be in the guiness world records book. I've never seen a drink served in a fish bowl with a rubber alligator garnish before Bamboo
I've lived in NJ my whole life but have had to figure out how to pump my own a few times. DH lived in PA when I met him. I was going out to his place once and needed gas....pulled up the the pump, sat there, wondered why no one was coming. I finally realized I had to pump my own and panicked and called DH and told him to tell me what to do before I even got out of the car lol.
We're moving to PA in a couple months and I just realized I'll have to pump my own, ugh!

I'm in NJ but from NY. Years ago I worked a gas station in NY & it was always fun to get the NJ drivers who could't figure out how to pump gas.
I have always hatted pumping gas. Love living in NJ. However, sometimes I wish I could just get out & do it because some people take too long to get back to me. I like being able to pump & go.
Not all stations are full service for diesel only though. DH got gas the other day and had to self-serve. He asked another guy there if it was typical for diesel and the guy said about half the stations that have diesel are self- serve (in our area). Not even allsaations have diesel fuel.
