1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? No. We are totally out of touch with the LGBT community. Sometimes I feel like the worst lesbian in the world.
2. If so, which activities? NA
3. If not, why not? Boston Pride is honestly not very exciting. I am not big on crowds -- or parades -- so the whole thing is not all that appealing to me. Also, my wife works on Saturdays and I don't have local gay friends so there's no one to go with. I pretty much went when I was single because I was hoping I would meet someone.
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? I went to Pride in NYC when I was 21, with my first girlfriend.
5. Were you "out"? Yes.
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? Nope.
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? Ask me again when I have kids! The Boston parade is kind of split so the "family friendly" stuff is at the beginning and the go-go dancer floats are at the end...so I could always leave halfway through if I didn't want them to see that. I might be more likely to go with kids than I am now.
Married my wife 8/2007 ~ TTC #1 since 7/2011 9 IUIs = 9 BFNs IVF October 2012: 22 eggs retrieved, 17 fertilized, 5 frozen ET #1: 1 blast = BFP; Blighted ovum discovered at 7w5d; D&E FET #1: 1 blast = BFP; Missed m/c discovered at 9w5d; D&E Karyotyping: normal ~ RPL Testing: normal ~ Hysteroscopy: normal FET #2: 1 blast transferred 10/25; BFP 10/31! 1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? YES--LOVE IT!

3. If not, why not? N/A
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? 17

6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? YES, WE ALWAYS GO. WE LOOK FORWARD TO IT.
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? WE'RE EXCITED. WE SPENT MANY A PRIDES DAY DREAMING ABOUT BEING AT PRIDE & ACTUALLY MORE THAN 1 IUI LANDED ON PRIDE WKND. HOPING TO DO THE PARADE WITH THEM IN THE RAINBOW FAMILIES GROUP NEXT YR.

1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? Not in the last few years but we used to.
2. If so, which activities? We used to attend the bands and parade
3. If not, why not? Houston Pride has reduced to almost nothing. Also it caters to a very young crowd and from my experience is not very child appropriate. We got too old for drama.
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? 18
5. Were you "out"? To my close friends but not everywhere
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? No. She hates the drama and being bored.
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? Um in my experience there are family activities but the parade is fairly mixed with kid appropriate and some not. I think i would rather attend the GLBT family picnics that occur monthly.
We are not anti-pride, we are just extremely disappointed with the activities and the very small size in such a large diverse city. We would love to attend the DC or San Fran pride. We have gone to Dallas or Austin to celebrate before.

06/12 - BFP!!!! Beta #1 15dpo - 256 Beta #2 18dpo - 1097 6wk U/S on 07/02 ~ TWINS!!! EDD 02/21/13 09/10/12 Found out it's two Boys!!!! Sam and Jake Jacob and Samuel born 1/29/13 at 36 weeks.
1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? No, not regularly
2. If so, which activities? If we go, it is the parade.
3. If not, why not? Crowds (and heat)
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? mid-20's
5. Were you "out"? Not exactly--ie. I did not expect to see my straight-friends there so I felt free to be me. (I was always quasi-closeted...though who was I kidding I straight up looked like a *** (a term I like)).
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? Yes!
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? It's "okay," but for me it is more about crowds and germs. C is better at that than I am and keeps my phobias in check.
1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? This year will be my first time attending.
2. If so, which activities?
3. If not, why not? I did not want to go by myself and DW usually works on Saturdays.
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? I am 28.
5. Were you "out"? Um very much so
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? She has been to one before this and said she had a good time.
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? If we were going to the one closer to us OR I could meet someone and send Ky home after just part of it I would not have a problem taking her at least to the parade. problem is I know we will be there MOST of the day and that is just too much for her right now.
2. If so, which activities? We've gone to the parade every year for several years, but haven't been to the festival since the kids were born. Never been to the club/parties.
3. If not, why not? We don't go to the festival with the kids because of the crowds/heat.
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? At 18 went to the Equality March ('92.) But then didn't go to pride for several years after.
5. Were you "out"? Not at the equality march.
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? NO. She really doesn't like it and only goes because I like it.
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? We've walked in the parade with the kids for the past 5y. I love walking in the parade with them and all of the attention we get (we have cute signs on their scooters.) But they are getting to the age where they notice the a$$less chaps, the thong bathing suits with the pubic hair spilling over the top, the women riding shirtless on the motorcycles, the men in leather and chains...and asking questions. And this year we stopped to watch the parade half way through and some guy came up and gave the kids condoms because "they are going to f'ing need them in the future." Thanks, dude. L feels pretty strongly that this is their last year going to the parade for awhile because of the aforementioned things/the sexualized nature of the festivities. I am on the fence - selfishly because I like to go with my family.
1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? I plan the Pride in Albany, so yes, I have to be here :-)
2. If so, which activities? All of them, though it was harder this year, because I have worked 12hr days for 12 days, and missed my kids!
3. If not, why not?
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? Um, probably 18, to NYC and Albany.
5. Were you "out"? Yes.
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? Yes, very much!
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride?
I love the diversity of our community, event the a$sless chaps. I saw a kid with a$sless jeans this year, that was a first! Anyway, most of the drag queens are friends, and my kids love the colors/sparkly-ness. Given the line of work I'm in, I'm sure we're going to be having lots of conversations about all the diversity very early on, which I'm actually excited about.
1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? I am planning to go for the first time this year.
2. If so, which activities? Parade and maybe one of the block parties
3. If not, why not? I haven't gone in the past because I've never lived in a city with a Pride celebration.
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? I'll be 32, I suppose.
5. Were you "out"? Yep.
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? No, but I hope she'll come with me because I want to go. She hates crowds, and largely considers gayness to be a "personal matter" so doesn't see much value in Pride.
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? Not sure yet, I'll report back. The assless chaps do give me some pause.
Same sex couple TTC with donor sperm. I am 35 and carrying. Endometriosis and DOR. AMH 0.5, AFC 5-8, FSH 7ish
All of this talk about as$less chaps with children around makes me giggle because I can picture Ky standing and pointing yelling BUTT loudly until one of us acknowledged that yes that is a butt.
1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? Usually do DC Pride and occasionally Baltimore Pride but this year we were sick so skipped our annual DC adventure. We are going to the beach this weekend and are skipping Baltimore. 2. If so, which activities? Usually start with the parade, do the ladies party, and festival the following morning. 3. If not, why not? We tend not to do Baltimore because it is VERY crowded and much more about getting trashed. 4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? I went to my first pride (DC) at age 23. 5. Were you "out"? Yep and just out of my first big relationship so I was in player mindset and caused far too much trouble. 6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? More than I do. 7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride?
We look forward to taking our future kids but know that there will be occasional diversion of attention going on to cover for the chaps.
We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
We march in the parade every year because the church I minister at
marches with the other Lutherans (this is Minnesota...tons of
Lutherans). We generally stick around and wander through the festival, but probably not this year with the kiddo. Depends on the weather and how he's doing.
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? I was 24 and living in New York City. Their parade is 6+ hours long. M kept calling and saying "wait, you're STILL at the parade?" I will say it was a great first pride, at one of the center of the gay universe (a block from Stonewall)
5. Were you "out"? 1/2 and 1/2 at that point.
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities?
M usually says "ugh, I don't know if I want to go" every year but then
is super glad that we do because it's so inspiring to have hundreds of thousands of people clap for you (the religious groups always get extra cheers--not as many as PFlag, of course. They're the best)
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride
I'm excited to take Luke--the Minnesota festival is extremely family friendly (lots of kid booths). The parade is about 90% kid friendly, but since we march with the Lutherans and don't see every other parade unit, we generally miss the assless chaps:) Plus, my kid can only see 2 feet in front of him, so I think we're good this year!
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? early 20's
5. Were you "out"? BIG OL HOMO.... i had a shirt too that said it !
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? Yes!
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? It's "okay," in LV but not crazy about LA pride or LB and certainly not SF too meat markety and not family oriented SADLY ... but Vegas pride is tame and we have a KIDS PLAY ROOM WE RUN with our LGBT GROUP
1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? We did before J was born. I also went to Pride way back when in my home country (kind of a dangerous proposition at the time).
2. If so, which activities? The parade and block parties.
3. If not, why not? We haven't gone the past couple of years because we're exhausted. The last one we went to, I was sporting a pretty big belly with J in it.
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? 20, maybe? It was the first one ever in my city.
5. Were you "out"? Yes.
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? Yes.
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? We'll definitely take J to the parade with us .
I'm late (was out of town) but had been thinking of posting something like this so I'm going to reply anyways!
2brides:
1. Do you regularly attend Pride activities? No, not in the past few years. Something else always seems to fall on the NYC pride weekends and traveling to anything else has not been a priority.
2. If so, which activities? In the past we've attended parades and festivals in Minneapolis, NYC, London, Boston, and almost NJ but then we got annoyed that the festival cost something like $20 and left. Never any of the evening activities as we are cheap and they tend to be expensive.
3. If not, why not?
4. How old were you when you went to your first Pride? Probably 18 or 19?
5. Were you "out"? Nope. Not to myself or anyone else. But I hung out with a progressive group of kids, and I had several gay friends.
6. Does your SO enjoy Pride activities? She feels about like I do. I think she probably feels a bit more regret than I do that we're not really part of a queer community right now (with the exception of this board of course).
7. How do you feel about taking kids to pride? I'd want to assess how child-friendly the events I was considering going to were. A lot of really sexualized stuff probably wouldn't make me happy, but if we go with kids we'd be most likely to be either with a UU group or some sort of rainbow families group.
