40 weeks and odd baby activity/ little nervous

I'm 40 wks and 1 day, my baby has been an active little thing the entire pregnancy and today she hasn't really moved at all, she moved a little earlier but hasnt been nearly as active as normal. should i call my doctor or just chalk it up to a lazy day for her.

  • I have heard they move less once they descend into your pelvis further.  You may just want to call to confirm but I am sure everything is just fine!

    Yes this,

decreased movement is totally normal. Its very possible your LO is just in launch position and a bit cramped. Its also possible that they're just having a sleepy day. Try drinking some OJ or soda and lay down and see if you can get some movement. But never be afraid to call! Thats what you pay them for! =)

  • Try drinking some cold water or something cold/sugary and lay down on your left side. If that doesn't get her moving I'd call the dr.  Yes, I  know people are saying that it is normal but use your mommy instinct.  My dr told me at this point there is no stupid thing to call about and it's only stupid if you don't call. Better safe than sorry. Good luck!

    This. If you're worried, call.

  • Sounds normal but best to call for peace of mind.
  • My OB is away next week (after I hit 39 weeks!) and she said he had no concern with me missing an appointment. But she also said that I'm concerned about anything at all, even a change or decrease in movement, I should call the hospital we're delivering at, explain that my OB is away and was instructed to go to the hospital for any questions, and that I AM coming in - no questions. If you're concerned, I'd make the call, especially now that you're overdue.

  • This same thing happened to me and it really freaked me out.  Try eating something with sugar or drinking juice and lying on your side to see if that works.  Also-- your doctor should schedule you for a non-stress test and a fluid ultra sound later this week.  Don't be afraid to ask him to scoot this up a bit if it will calm your nerves (mine did for me).

  • Ive been having contrax on and off for days and hours at a time, my LO was not moving much. I drank OJ and laid down and as long as I felt 10 movements in 60 mins I felt ok. I asked my doc about it today and she said, always call if you feel concerned, better safe than sorry.
