Can he be eating too much?

Anyway this is possible?  I am BF  and giving bottles of my expressed milk.  I'm only asking because DS took two 3oz bottles today and then actively nursed  for 20 mins after.  I feel like that's a lot at once for a 2.5 weeker!   (we obviously nursed in between too... )

Re: Can he be eating too much?

  • Trying to get him used to the bottle for when I go back to work and DH likes to feed him.

  • It is good to get them used to a bottle if you need them to. It does sound like a lot of milk but he is coming up on a growth spurt, so eating more is expected. Don't worry! I have never heard that you can over feed a baby as long as you are not force feeding them. Our LC told DH when he has to give DS a bottle to hold him like I hold him when he nurses so that he has to work for it...... when you hold babies like many typically think of for bottle feeding, they do not have to work hard for it.....even the slowest flow will let gravity take it's course.

  • Thank you! We go to the pedi in a few hours so I'll ask for more clarification.  I keep reading that a bf baby cannot be over fed but a ff one can....nothing about expressed milk from a bottle...
