My daughter doesn't have teeth yet, but she recently started clamping down on my nipple and it hurts! I've been yelling "No!" But she just looks at me like I'm weird and does it again, lol
I don't do the smush face into the boob thing. I unlatch her, say "biting, ouch!" and give her a brief boob time out for a minute. It took a few days of being consistent every time she bit, and now she rarely bites.
I'm glad I started before she had teeth because now she has her two bottom teeth and I can just imagine the pain.
ETA: I don't say the "biting, ouch" part loudly at all. I guess the exclamation point makes it seem like I do. I say it calmly and sometimes I will add "biting hurts mama" and she just looks at me and smile. I think the brief time out is what works for her.
The one time I tried the boob smush, she got pissed and cried. = You just have to try and see what works for your LO.
Just want to second the advice not to yell or startle the baby. I did this on accident with DD when she 8 months and it scared her and she refused to nurse ever again after that. I tried everything to get her to end her nursing strike, but she never went back. It was awful! I ended up EPing until a year. This time around I'm being very careful not to yelp even if DS bites.

Re: What do you do when baby starts clamping down on the nipple? Ouch!
I will have to try this as last night was the first time my baby's tooth was hurting me. Not fun!

I had a lot of issues with DD biting while she was teething. I found this helpful:
