XP: hooded towels

I feel kind of silly asking about it because it seems like such a minor thing.  But I'm working on my registry and researching all sorts of things.  A lot of the reviews I see on towels say things like they're not soft, they're not absorbent, they fall apart, etc.

Does anyone have towels they really like?  Am I reading too much into this?

Thanks everyone :o

Re: XP: hooded towels

  • This is totally just my opinion, but a towel is towel : )  People "care" about the weirdest things sometimes!

  • We have the hooded towels and we use our bath towels on lo because we tend to forget his towels in his room.  Plus our house tends to be cool and our towels are fluffier/warmer.  That being said, I do leave the hooded towels at my mom's because she has a pool.  A towel is a towel and honestly, spend the money on something else... you will barely use these.

  • I had a feeling I was being ridiculous about it.  Thanks for confirming it...plenty of other things to be picky about!

  • I have BRU brand hooded towels and they are thin so I end up covering her with a receiving blanket too. I like the hood though especially since she has a ton of hair.

  • We have four towels, each different brands. One is very scratchy, two are very thin and the last one is perfect. The one we really like is a Carter's, they are on the website and have critters on the hood part. With that said, we use all four and DS doesn't care one bit which is which. A normal bath towel works too.
  • We put a 3 pack of something on our registry and they are fine, pretty thin but he's only in it for a minute.  We got several as gifts after he was born.  Hooded towels with animal heads and those socks that look like shoes seem to be popular gifts.

this! i still use them though, i too like the hood! even though my LO is basically bald lol.

  • A towel isn't a towel to me! I'm really specific about my towels, mostly because I have super sensitive skin so I've shoved this on to my son, too. My favorite hooded towels are from the Children's Place. They're pretty much like small beach towels with hoods-- nice and thick, very soft. Grab them when they're on sale. I had a 20% coupon and they had them 50% off so I got each one for like $8. They were well worth the money and big enough that they'll last awhile before he's too big to use them.

I hate all the ones that I got that came several to a pack. Like someone else said, they're impossibly thin. You almost need to use all three at one time to achieve normal absorbancy.

  • The Carter's hooded towels from Target that are various animals are awesome. They are thick and soft and really large size. I have found the hood to be important because LO's lose a lot of heat through their head and it takes awhile to dry all their little folds and crevices off.

We got this 3 pack of circo brand towels from target and they are awful, they are super thin and not absorbent at all. We use them as burp cloths sometimes but not as towels. The Carter's ones with the animals on the hoods are the best!
