Recommend your sling/carrier

I have a chunk-a-monk 22 pound 7 month old :)  We love the ergo for longer walks, but for in and out of the car, I need something easier to get in and out of.

I was thinking a ring sling?

Do you all like this one?  The maya ring sling?

Or some other carrier.

Tell me your opinions.

Re: Recommend your sling/carrier

  • I have a maya ring sling with a padded shoulder that I bought new, and one with an unpadded shoulder that I bought at a yard sale for a friend, who gave it back when she was done. I like both of them and have used them from the newborn stage to toddlerhood. I personally feel like I get a better fit with the unpadded one.

  • I love my ring sling.  It is a Wallababy.  But, I've been lusting after a comfy joey RS as well. :)

  • Don't get the lite-on shoulder one. I had one, and the fabric started to tear at the seams.

If I end up getting another RS, it will be one of these. https://www.sleepingbaby.net/basics.php  or a wrap conversion.

  • I have a Maya Wrap in olive green for sale if you'd like... I bought it for $65. I used it once and it is in perfect condition. Make me an offer if you'd like. It has the slightly padded shoulder and is comfy! Message me if you're interested. I am selling it because my little one prefers the Ergo.

  • I am trying to decide this too. I am thinking about this maya ring sling. I am glad to see it recommended by PPs.

  • Love my maya rs-DD is napping in it at this very moment! She's about 24 or 25 lbs now and I still find it very comfortable for short trips....and it's great for her to nap in when we're out and about. I've been using my baby hawk Mei tai more for longer trips (back carries).

  • I love my comfy Joey RS. Seriously it is much more comfortable than I imagined a RS to be and it supports my 21 lb DD very well. It's also great for quick ups and Downs.

  • Get a wrap conversion ring sling, the maya is terrible for bigger babies and comfy joey mostly makes linens, so you can't wear them once they are over 30 lbs.  Wrap conversions are the way to go, you can wear them way into toddlerhood. I have a Gira snow rainbow wrap conversion sling and LOVE It.  I use it more than any of my other carriers these days.  You can get them used on the FSOT on the babywearer, they come up quite often. Sleeping baby productions is the company that makes the conversions the best way, so comfortable and easy to use.  Once you try a conversion, you'll never buy a linen again!
