Trying to Get Pregnant

Best time to test LH surge with OPK

I have read when on multiple sites what is the best time of day to take an OPK but I wanted to know what time all of you ladies on here recommend as well.

This will be my first cycle using OPK strips and I wanted to hear what you ladies were doing that works!

Thanks!

Re: Best time to test LH surge with OPK

  • If it is your first cycle using them, I would test twice a day starting at about CD10.  It seems as though many people test late morning and mid-afternoon, but I think it is really up to you. Smile  Good luck!

  • I usually test with FMU (Not recommended but it works for me) and in the evening when I get home from work.  Sometimes if I get a close to positive in the morning, I may test around 2:00 in the afternoon as well.

  • I also use FMU it works for me. The first cycle I used OPKs I would get pos or faint lines in the morning but not the afternoon, probably from drinking water. Also the answer OPKs say to use FMU. That is all I used this cycle.

  • I never got a positive with FMU. I finally got one testing twice a day around noon and it was gone by the night so I would say late morning early afternoon.

I usually do FMU (because it's hard for me to test at work), and then when I get home around 4-5pm.  I O late, so I usually start testing once a day around CD 13, then 2x a day around CD 17 (usually O on CD 19-21)

  • This was my first using OPKs too and I caught it around 5pm.  I stopped drinking too much water and didnt use the restroom after 1pm on days I was using OPKs.

  • This was my first month using them.  I decided to use them once a day to see what happened.  I tested somewhere between 3 and 4 pm and I caught my surge.  Good luck.

  • I test after work around 5:30. I started at first with FMU, but found that it was giving me lines that were verrrry close to positive, but not quite. It messed up my charts until I realized what a true positive looks like.

  • I did my OPKs twice a day (late morning, about 9-10am, then again at 5pm) and caught my surge last night at 5pm. My surge only lasts about 12 hours so for me to catch it, I have to do tests at least twice a day.
