How to keep LO in crib

Hey I was wondering is anyone's LO trying to escape from their crib? I've lowered the crib to the lowest level but she's so tall that she is starting to be able to lean and use her feet to try and scale the crib. I dont want her to fall but I dont really want to put her in a toddler bed(I feel she's to young- she'll get out of bed and not know how to get back in). My one aunt mentioned that you can buy a crib tent but when I looked online they have all been recalled and no longer in business. Sooo anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking maybe just putting socks on her so she doesnt get any grip? Thanks :)

  • Oil the slats on the crib? Sorry, I've got nothing! But I have a feeling socks wouldn't do it. It takes DD about .5 seconds to get her socks off!

  • I really have no advice on keeping her in the crib, but my DD is in a toddler bed already. It is really very low, and she can climb in and out easily. It took about a week for her to adjust to it, but she's doing great now. She hasn't had a problem with falling out in the night or anything like that. It has worked out very well for us.

Can you put something down next to the crib so if she actually does climb out its not a bad fall? Like an extra mattress or something? It could still be a while til she climbs out of it.
  • How much space do you have between the bottom of the crib and the floor? I am planning on putting D's mattress right on the floor because he is no where near ready for a toddler bed.

  • If you have one of those cribs with the high back, I have heard of moms turning them around so the high part is in the front to make it harder to climb out of.

Otherwise, I think you'll have to move her to a floor bed or a toddler bed.  Better that then falling out of the crib.

  • wow...maybe bc I have a peanut, I've been thinking I am a looooooong way off from this. Can't believe June mamas are already dealing with it!

  • Your siggy is adorable!! My LO is not tall or monkeyish enough for that but I'm not looking forward to that day.

  • If someone finds a solution to this please be sure to post it! I am worried about this. I think I am a month or so away from this problem but I know its coming. My little one climbs all over everything..... including people. She tries to climb up my chest in the rocking chair so she can play with the knobs on the back of the chair....

Sounds like you need one of these: Image Detail

There is netting around the rails to prevent climbing and then the top to keep them in also.  You might not even have to attach the top, but I'm not sure how they work.

Good to know... I wouldn't buy one myself just based on price and LO being so tiny I don't see climbing out as an issue anytime soon, so I hadn't researched them at all.  I had just heard of them.
