So my dr's asst just called me and said that if he doesn't come by this weekend they are going to induce me on Tuesday at 6:30 am! I am really excited about this but at the same time I am a little bit nervous about the process in which they will start the induction. I have read up a little bit on induction and have seen that some times they will just break your water and see how things progress or they will start you out on pitocin. I just want to hear everyone's experience with being induced and/or having to use picocin and if it had any negative side effects. Etc
Re: Induction and Pitocin.....
My water broke at home with DD1 and I wasn't contrating. They got the pitocin going and within an hour I was having regular contractions. I went to the hospital at 3:30am, probably got hooked up to the pitocin around 7am, by 9am I had an epidural, pushed for about 30 minutes and by noon I was snuggling my baby.
I had no issues with the pitocin, but I was hurting pretty bad right before getting my epi.

I believe that once you start pitocin, your chance of having a c-section are greatly increased. It is also my experience that pitocin contractions are a real ***. However, if you're not trying for a natural childbirth like I was, you won't experience the worst of it.
FTR: My water broke at 7AM and I still wasn't contracting at 4PM I started pit at 6:30 and had a baby at 4:41. The only reason it took that long to get him out, was because his heart rate kept dropping during contractions and i had to move around a bunch to get him into a favorable position for pushing. I was able to deliver vaginally.
