Update (not good): In two and a half hours.... Finally!

My first appointment is finally here! I have so many questions and so much to discuss. I am so nervous for so many reasons. But overall so excited. I just hope, hope, hope I am given an ultrasound and that all is well.

Oh and I HATTTTE having my blood drawn and am totally freaked out about how crappy I'm feeling while needing to get so much blood taken. I'm one of those some have difficulty getting a good vein from and I am scared I'm going to pass out . So glad my husband is coming and my son will be at my MILs.

Well, it certainly was not as we had hoped.

Had the transvaginal ultrasound and the midwife said she saw a gestational sac that measured 5 1/2 weeks but couldn't confirm that there was anything in the sac.

She sent me for an emergency second ultrasound at the hospital next door.

They performed another ultrasound and while I couldn't see the screen this time, my husband just shook his head. He said afterwards he didn't see anything moving. I heard what sounded like a heartbeat during the second one, but am guessing it must have been my own heartbeat.

The results are supposed to be to my midwife soon and she is now supposed to call me by 2:00 EST to let me know what things look like, but according to her, things don't look good.

I know some may say that maybe my dates are off, maybe I ovluated later, but I have always had very regular cycles and I tracked everything like a crazy woman. I also think we may have only had sex one other time during the 2WW. So I really, really don't think this is at all likely. Just waiting for the call, but I believe I am out.

I hear you on the blood draw! I have my first official appt tomorrow morning, however I had made an emergency trip in on Tuesday after some spotting. They took blood then for my blood type and I had to have two ice packs, a juice, and lay down. That was only 1 vial! Now I have have to give blood twice this week. The nurse who did it was so sweet to me but I was like, jeez I am going to have to toughen up here! I found that fanning myself with a magazine helped keep me cool and my brain a little occupied.

My first appt is today too (@3pm) I totally understand your anxiety I'm nervous & excited too, just want everything to be ok. I keep telling myself there is no reason to think there is not a healthy baby in there

I always look away when I get blood taken. I find it helps to stay seated and eat a quick snack afterwards to get my head back on straight. Maybe you could take something with you? I seem to always have a snack in my purse lately for emegencies, so you might have something already with you.

Good Luck at your appointment. I am the same with getting blood taken but have found that it helps to talk when it is being done.

I was the same way a few weeks ago. The nurse was super nice to me at the office. See if you can have your blood taken while laying down. That was super helpful for me. I also had the ice packs---one on my head and one on the back of my neck. As soon as she was done I popped a lifersaver or two in my mouth and lay there for about 10 minutes. Was much easier than I had myself worked up for it to be. Good luck!

I'd tell you not to lose hope, but I know that is so much easier said than done. Hope you get a definitive answer soon, and that all is well. We're here for you either way.
