Mama Roo??

I've been researching a lot of swings/bouncy chairs and came across this MamaRoo.. WOW! It really does look/sound amazing.

I'm wondering if anyone has this?? Is it worth the price. Does it work better then bouncy chair/swing?

  • I would check out the Nurseries and Baby Gear forum for this question, you might get more responses there. As for me, my DS hated swings and we will try the two that we had from him for the new DS this time around.

  • Never heard of it so I looked it up and found it here. It is seriously UGLY! Also it has less than 4 stars and that is always a red flag to me.

Sorry, but I would agree with shootingstars here. Totally weird design

  • Have you watched a video for it? It's suppose to replicate the movements of a parent.. Which I think is amazing since a swing nor a bouncy chair can do that..

And to be honest I don't think it's very easy to find anything that is 4 or 5 stars.. Unless you want to pay a gazillion bucks for it.. Which some people can't do.. there are to many picky in the world for something to be rated a 5 star.. just saying. :-)

  • I thought about getting one of these too when I saw it in the store we bought our crib. The problem is they can only use it when they are pretty small and I don't see the point in spending $200 on something they will outgrow so fast.  I registered for a swing and rock and play instead........the swing goes side to side and back and forth so hopefully our LO will like one of those options :)
  • DH and I both want this but I'm hesitating now b/c it only goes up to 6 months and it isn't cheap.  Though I'm confident I can sell it on craigslist for a higher price as soon as we're done.  I really like that it's plug in.  All I can remember about the swing and the bouncy seat was that I was constantly running out for batteries.  Though it may not have actually been that bad - just what I remember!

Do you have a store you can check it out in? We have a local one but I don't think they have a good return policy though I will check that out.

  • I believe these are relatively new the market, but every new mom I've talked to who has one LOVES it. It's not a swing. It moves the baby slowly in motions that simulate a car ride, waves, etc. So far I haven't heard a single negative thing about it from people who actually have it. It's on my registry to stay!

  • I love the look!! MUCH less of an eyesore than those bright coloured FP things! We had the FP Little Lamb swing which DS loved because it swung. AND that broke down after about 3 months. We got the Mamaroo. It's awesome but doesn't swing but it's a great simulator for Mum. My only complaint is that he couldn't recline as much as I would like but it is a great swing!! I will use this again. It's not awesome for sleeping in it but awesome for entertaining. I'll also be getting a swing as I find them two very different things!

  • Hated it!!! I ended up selling mine on Craigslist after about 2 months. My son never liked it. Its sooooo sloooooow even on the highest speed and all the settings pretty much do the same exact movements. We switched to a regular swing and my son loved it.

I give MamaRoo two big thumbs DOWN!

  • A baby boutiquestore where I live had one on display, and I wasn't a huge fan of it. It moves extremely slow and it looked like any normal size, healthy baby would out grow it pretty quick.

  • We bought it to try it out. However we purchased a slightly used one off Craigslist for only $100! They are expensive and since you never know what a baby is going to prefer, I was happy to get it used. I hope our son will like it. My dh & I wish they made them for adults! haha I would love sitting in this thing.

Anyway, we decided to give it a shot because like some other ladies said, it isn't as much of an eye sore or take up as much space as a lot of swings.
