Anyone else's LO poop after every feeding???

Seriously, DS #2 poops after EVERY feeding...He also screams bloody murder during diaper changes, which makes nightime feedings rather unpleasant! I hate to let him sit in poop; if he had just a little pee I could/would skip a changing in the middle of the night...he gets so wound up after I change him that he won't go right back to sleep. Anyone else?

My little girl poops all the time. I never have just a wet diaper to change. It is always poop. She HATES diaper changes too. She screams and gets so fired up that she refuses to sleep for about 45 mins afterwards. I totally feel your pain.

  • Yes.  Most of the time it's during so I just change in between boobs.  DS hates diaper changes too but the second boob always calms him back down.  I think he is super cold when he gets a diaper changeso I always do skin to skin after if he is full.

  • DS poops after, during and between feedings.
  • This is very normal.

  • Yes! LO poops a lot during her feeding and gets super cranky at diaper changes but calms down if I give her the second boob after. I swear I change dirty diapers all day.

I read in my babies first year book that BF babies around 4-6 weeks change their bowel movements and some only go once a week... I don't know if this is accurate but I keep waiting for at least her movements to lessen!

  • Ditto with DD

  • My LO was like that, and sometimes still does it.  I read somewhere that it is because their digestive tracts are so immature that they need input ie milk to push waste out the other end, so often than not, they'd start pooping when they start eating.  I found that my boy hated the cold wipes more than anything else. I try to change as quickly as I can so it won't completely wake him up in the middle of the night, and that usually works for us.  You can try using cloth dipped in warm water instead of wipes but if money is no object you can buy a wipe warmer.. maybe that will help.
