share your pics of dc with xmas lights?

I was wondering if anyone who has done this would post their pic and tell me how they got it to work with the lights off. My dh doesn't believe me that it works. Please help me prove him wrong, haha!  TIA Smile

  • See signature.  I turned the flash off and the room was completely dark.

I had a black sheet as my background.  Lights were off, but there was some light coming through the window.  I set my camera ISO to 400 - not really sure what that means, but someone else on here suggested it.  My flash was off, and I had to use a tripod because they were turning out blurry without.

This is what it looks like when you leave your flash/lights on...not near as cool.

  • I just did it with the lights on and I think it turned out pretty well.

  • Mine aren't as good as the others, because I used the lights and flash, but I still kind of like it.

  • I'm doing mine sometime this weekend.  I'm excited!  I plan on using a black background, just the Christmas lights on, and no flash.  I'll start with the camera on automatic to see what it does.  I'm also going to try increasing the exposure a little (slow down the shutter speed) to see if I can get the lights to "twinkle" a little.  I did this when I was taking pictures of lights during our first Christmas here.  Lemme see if I can find one....
  • Here's one I took of my house.  Notice the lights in the foreground (the ones on the house are a bit too bright in the photo, but the ones on the fence have that "twinkle" look) for what I was talking about in my other post.  If DS stays still enough, I might be able to get that effect when I take his photos.

  • See siggy!!

I just did it in the bathroom with the lights off and the flash off... they looked really weird until I edited them to black and white!  Some came out pretty blurry but all in all it was really easy!!
