When Did You Get Told How Much Your Baby Weighs?

Is it normal to have virtually no idea how much your baby weighs? When people ask me how big she is, I just say she's right on track because I literally have no clue how big she is. I feel like there are tons of posts on The Bump about babies measuring this size or that size and there's mention of "growth scans" and whatnot. I haven't had a growth scan and all my OB has said at my appointments is that "she's growing right on track." Does that mean she's in the normal weight range? Do you only get growth scans if medically necessary?

I had an u/s two days after my EDD with DS. They predicted he would be around 7lbs, he came out four days later at 6lbs 12oz.

That was the only time we were told about weight besides the 18 week a/s.

If you go over your EDD, they will most likely give you another u/s and a non-stress test. (where they can predict weight of LO).

This. And I only had the 28w ultrasound to double-check on a possible issue/condition; I wouldn't have had one if there had not been a concern.

I found out at my last u/s at 25 weeks, but only after I asked. I plan on asking again at our 4D u/s tomorrow.

I had an u/s yesterday at 31 weeks 5 days, but only because both my husband and I were gigantic babies (10lbs12oz and 11lbs8oz), and the doctor wanted to get a baseline. She is estimated to be measuring 3 weeks ahead and already 5lbs10oz. The doctor said we would do another u/s around 38 weeks to see if there is concern about her size, although I've heard it's much less accurate later in pregnancy.

If you are growing and measuring on track as far as your weight and belly, I wouldn't worry. If you are concerned about anything involving your pregnancy, share it with your doctor and he/she will make the call about performing another u/s.

I had a 27w ultrasound to make sure everything was okay with my LO's 2 vessel cord. They told me then she was measuring a week ahead and she was about 2 lbs 8 oz. I've heard that the weight guesses are notoriously inaccurate. The only other time weight was mentioned was my 17w AS and I was too in shock that we were having a girl to process it.

Ive been told all along. I go for monthy sonograms. They know from measuring the circumference of the baby's belly and skull. Mine are each just over 3 lbs. Your next sonogram just ask!

at my 20w scan the tech said she was right on target at 13.5oz. I don't know what she weighs now, but she definitely is visable when she snuggles up to DH's warm hand on my bump in the evenings.

I ask at my 20 week AS but they didn't tell me and they just recently started to doing the fundal measurement. Since that measurement came back bigger than normal I got to have an additional US to check the progress of baby size. The fundal thing was so wrong becuase the doctor who looked at my US said she is small for 30 weeks but healthy and he isn't concerned. That is the only reason I know how much she weighs though.

I have no idea either! I wasn't even given an estimate at our 20 week a/s ultrasound, and both of our elective u/s off base they didn't say anything about weight. At my last appointment though my MW told me I was right on track for 28 weeks (my fundal height), so I guess baby is good. My MW won't order anymore u/s unless I turn high risk, or they think baby is too big.

Since I go every two weeks, I get told once a month. I just went yesterday and they are estimated at 3.6 and 3.1 lbs.

I was given an estimate at our anatomy scan at the hospital, and I have another around 35 weeks at the hospital, so assume I will get another estimate then. My OB does really quick scans at every appointment for his patients (I love this policy!) and will say "baby is looking good/growing well" but doesn't measure it exactly.

I was told how my baby was measuring at my a/s at 19 weeks.

The only reason I know that baby is measuring 4 weeks ahead now is because I have GD and I go to my high risk specialist every 2 weeks for growth scans now. They don't estimate his weight though, they just do his measurements.

I've never been given an estimate of the baby's weight for either one of my pregnancies. When people ask how big he is, I just tell them that he's about _# of ounces/pounds--whatever the books say during that time.

i just had my 28w checkup, and my ob said she'll start checking at 36 weeks i think? maybe 32? but i'm also not going to weekly apts unless something is wrong so i'm not sure.
