August 2012 Moms

Im on modified bedrest for the rest of the week.

Greeeaaat. :/

I went in today for my GD test, and they did the usual (measure, bp check, etc) and my bp was a little high. My midwife thinks its an isolated incident since I was dehydrated at the appt and I had a slight sugar crash, and I dont have a history of high bp. But just in case this isnt an isolated incident, she told me to take off work for the rest of the week and dont exercise, basically take it easy at home, and come in and get it rechecked at the end of the week.

When I got home, I rehydrated and took a nap and it was normal again. Hah! (I have a bp cuff at home.)

Ditto!  The other girl in the office with me is out on vacation the rest of the week - I'd like to be out, too!

  • Ive checked my bp twice today and it's still normal, so I definitely think it's an isolated incident.

So far, Im kind of liking this little home-cation. :] H cooked dinner tonight and washed the dishes afterwards. Tomorrow I guess Im bumping all day and watching mindless tv, and H will probably get take-out or order pizza for dinner! Looks like me and the dogs are sleeping in for the next few days!

  • That's awesome it seems to be a isolated incident. But your directions to take it easy isn't the same as modified bed rest. I'm on modified bed rest and I can only cook small, fast meals; spend most of the day laying, only to get up to eat and pee and take one shower. I can't drive or go to the store or out to dinner but one time per week. Not trying to be nit picky but there is a difference between reduced activity and mod bed rest. I'm happy you get the lesser of 2 evils for sure!

She also told me no shopping, or "heavy" cooking. Basically, just park my hiney on the couch for a few days. She called it modified bedrest.
