Why I love TB.

Yesterday I read a post from a woman who had been chewed out for drinking a coke. One of the comments underneath was that the original coke recipe was made for upset tummies, and small sips could help with nausea (advice given by her doc). So today I FINALLY gave into my craving and drank some coke. OMG!!! I feel SO MUCH BETTER! I can eat! I had energy to clean my living room! I am even eating some homemade potato salad for lunch! I can't tell you all how much I appreciate TB and all you ladies.  What have you ladies found that really has made your pregnancy a bit easier?

Re: Why I love TB.

  • Taking prescription Zofran has worked wonders for my m/s.  After trying more natural methods, nothing else was cutting it.  It still doesn't work every time though.  Also, eating little bits throughout the day has helped cut back on the nausea.  Ginger Ale has been reasonably helpful too.

  • For me Zofran has been wonderful!  Before I started taking it I would wake up at night to throw up.  I lost more than 10 lbs in 2 weeks because I was so sick and not eating.

I've also found that the temperature of what I drink really helps.  Ice cold drinks help stop my m/s.

  • When I was pregnant with DD, I got nauseous whenever I drank anything that didn't have sugar in it, which included water and hot tea - my two staples. I asked for suggestions on here, and someone said I should drink the water out of a straw. I thought that sounded ridiculous because, really, how could that help? But I tried it and it worked wonders. When I was about 18 weeks I figured I could get rid of the straw, tried just drinking water from a glass again, and ended up running for the bathroom to puke. So, yeah, I drank water out of a straw through the entire pregnancy.

  • I am the one who had my doc give me the coca-cola recommendation! I am glad it helped you-it has sure saved me a few times! I have been buying the small 100 calorie, just so I am not tempted to drink too many empty calories.  The moderation also keeps my magic elixir potent enough to cure the nausea! I'm really glad you feel better!!

Thank you so much! This has been a wonderful day for me. I am up and cleaning, eating and generally feeling good today. I'll have to try the small 100 calorie ones. ;0)

  • With DS i got a script for phenergan and i swear by it. I've only been nauseous 2 days with this LO so far and I once I force myself to throw up, I feel better. Nausea can be so debilitating!!

  • I remember my doctor giving us "coke syrup" when I was little for upset stomach.  It is pretty much flat coke.
  • Coke helped me a lot the first time around as well. I craved fountain soda...not bottled or canned, but the nice "fresh" kind. :) I've been starting to feel the same on occasion again this time! Something about the carbonation really helps.

  • Someone got chewed out for drinking a coke? I want to see this post! I drink Dr. Pepper everyday, chew me out betchessss! I'm glad you found something to help ease your sickness(: Unfortunately none of the morning sickness remedies the ladies here gave me worked because of my hyperemesis. Zofran is magic for me.

TB taught me to stop being a paranoid FTM. I used to avoid lunch meat, then I started heating it, and now I realize that the chances of getting sick from lunch meat are very slim. I also avoided caffeine for the very beginning of first tri, now I drink it and feel no guilt. I don't go over 200 mg of it so I'm sure it's no harm. I do avoid diet soda though because of the aspartame although I hate the taste of it anyways.
