The post below about Nora got me thinking.... I have 5 nieces and obviously had no part in choosing their names. One sister kept the names a secret, the other sister shared super early, and my SIL already had her girls by the time I came along.
Of the 5 nieces' names, I only really LIKED one of them. Of course, I like the names NOW b/c they are my nieces' names, so it's not really an issue....
My nieces are: Amy, Nora, Laurel, Anna, and Erica. I wish Amy and Nora were Amelia and Eleanor (what a pretty sibset!). Laurel I love, even with the Laurel and Hardy reference (my sister was nervous about that). My sister is expecting again and if it's a girl, she is leaning towards Teagan, which I don't think goes with Laurel and I don't really like.... Anna is ok, a classic name - but my SIL's name is Anne, and so is DH's aunt....so not original at all! And Erica is totally NMS (they thought she was a boy and wanted to use the name Eric).
Do you like your siblings' choices for names?
Re: Secrets revealed: do you like your siblings' kids' names?
Generally, although there's only one I would have probably even considered for my own child- Larisa, although I prefer Lara.
My nephews' names are all too super American for my tastes, but are fine objectively. My other niece has a double name and has alternated going by the first part or by the second part throughout her life. Only the family calls her by both names.
Danica 10.22.10 | Milo 12.23.12
I have 2 nieces, Sara (my sis kmid), which I really like and Rachele Altea (SIL's kid), totally nms
I love my cousin's children's name: Grace and Max. Super love.
I am not a fan of any of my nieces' and nephews' names. Then again I'm not thrilled with the name for SS2. They are all super trendy names and I like more classic names. SS1 has a classic name but a dumb person he was named after.
SIL2 used DH's favorite name. I was not a fan so I was secretly happy but ticked for DH because he rarely shares with anyone and she used FN and MN.

My Ovulation Chart | My Baby Name List
I like the names of my 3 nephews... they are all in their 20's
Charles Alton III (NN Al ) & Cameron Boyd - brothers
Matthew Jordan ( NN Matt) - only child
1/12/13 DD was born
4/9/16 DS was born
9/17 CP
6/23/18 BFP EDD 3/4/19
I like them just fine.
Emerson Camille--I'm usually not a fan of Emerson but in my neice's case it is in fact a family name which makes it acceptable IMO, plus she was named long before the recent Emerson craze.
Lillian Margaret--LOVE.
They are called Emmy and Lilly, which I think is a very cute sibset.
DD's cousins are Giuliana Elizabeth and Ariana Eveline (not sisters). I have no complaints.
Baby Name Popularity by State
not particularly, but they aren't terrible: Austin, Zachary, Benjamin, Abigail and Paige. I think they're all a little boring, but they're normal and legit, so that's good.
My sister has 'claimed' the name Charis, which means grace. It has a lot of meaning for her, so I think that cool, even though I don't love the name. My brother wins the prize--he wants to name his son John Randall (MN after my dad). I really love it.
Luckily my sister went with Zachary (Zach) for my nephew. They really liked Beckett which I think is terrible. So trendy and nothing appealing about the name. She says they'll use it for baby #2 (not ttc yet) but I really hope they'll change their minds by then.
My SIL named our neice Harley (I'd never use it but it's a family surname so I like the significance) and nephew Logan which I like.
All that being said we're not sharing our name with family this time because we don't want others' input. We got way too many opinions with our DD and decided we don't care if others like our name this time. My sister might choose to do the same since we all "vetoed" Beckett. lol
My older sister has 3 sons, Trey (21), Christian (10) and Brayden (5).
1 brother has 2 boys, Richard Tyler (16) and Mahlin Brandon (14), both go by their middle names.
Another brother has a daughter named Allyson (8).
My younger sister has a 3 year old daughter named Rowan Olivia.
Trey, Allyson, Mahlin, Richard and Rowan are NMS. Brayden is meh, but who am I to talk I have a Hayden.
<a href="http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd273/ksheppard18/?action=view
Between my sister and SIL, I have 4 nephews: Ryan, Jason, Jack and Michael (nn Mikey). We're all about boys in my family! They're nice names, but I'm so "over" Jason and Michael.
I love all of my sibling's DC names! My sister has Alexander and Zachary, and my brother has Caleb, Jacob and Tessa.
My BIL, however, does not share my naming style at all. Of his 7 kids, I really only like one of their names - Jocelyn. The others are Tristen (g), Justice (g), Tyler, Alivia, Addison and Mackenzie.

5/1/11 - BFP #3 - Pre-eclampsia, IUGR & bed rest from 32w. DD born via induction 1/4/12.
I like all my nephews' and nieces' names. They are not necessarily names I would use, but most of them are pretty classic normal names.
My brother's boys are Anthony (17) and Nicolas (15)
On my husband's side (he has 3 sisters and a brother) there is Phillip, Jason, Jonathon, Jennifer, Stacy (all adults), Tyler (14), Jacob (13), Timothy (8), and Emma (4) .
I did NOT like my niece's name when I first heard it, but it has grown on me and it fits her. Her name Karra prounounced Kar-a. She always get called Care-a, which makes my SIL so mad.
My nephew is Asher and once again I didn't like the name at first, but now I love it!
My sister doesn't have kids yet, but I have some cousins and friends with young kids. The youngest cousins are Violet and Zachary. I didn't like Violet at first, but it's really grown on me. I do like Zachary, but I wouldn't have used it anyways since there is an Isaac that goes by Zack on the other side of the family.
My friends kids (who are like a niece and nephew to me) are Kieya and Kaeden. Kieya is kinda pretty but I think I like Kaia better. Kaeden is totally NMS, especially the spelling. I had to bite my tongue because she even said herself "I made their names unique with the spelling". I had the hardest time just smiling and nodding! And to make things worse, she said his name was supposed to be Braden (though she probably would have spelled it Braeden). I LOVE the name Braden, so it made me sad that she didn't use it!
I am not a fan of my brothers kids names which are Skyler-16, Tristan-14, and Damien-7 But I love them anyways ;o)
My BIL's kids are Anthony-11 and Taelor-7 I wasnt a fan of Anthony at first but I like it now and Taelor, I wasn't a fan of the spelling but I'm so used to it now it would seem boring to me if it was Taylor.

PAIF/SAIF Welcome!
I'm the only one of my siblings with any kids. My sister is pregnant and due in January but she hasn't shared any names yet. I don't think that she's even thinking about names yet honestly.
My DH has two brothers and one has a step-daughter and one has a DS and a DD. BIL's Step Daughter is Ashlee. I don't have an issue with her name. It's a nice normal name and while I would have preferred it spelled Ashley, I don't think it's horrible. It's not my personal naming style, but it's not a bad name.
My other BIL's kids are Noah and Karolyne. Noah isn't a bad name, I like biblical boys names myself, but Noah was actually one of the biblical names that I never really thought to use myself. I am starting to have a bad association with it BECAUSE of my nephew. BIL and SIL pretty much let the kid run wild and do whatever he wants and he's a spoiled brat that no one really wants to be around. Karolyne is only a few months old and while I like the name Caroline, it HATE the way they spelled it.
I'm related to an Ezekiel. It's ok but not my style. He goes by Zeke.
My cousin's daughter is named Sophie. I think it's pretty, but I wish she had named her Sophia and used Sophie as a nn.
Jan17 Sept Sig: Pumpkin Spice gone too far
I don't have nieces on nephews on either side. I kind of doubt I'll like my sister's choices - we have very different styles. However, she says she plans to use our dad's FN for a son, and I would like that. As far as DH's side, I have no idea.
I do have cousins with kids, and I like some of them (Bethany, Lindsay, Caleb, Caroline, Katherine). A few are just NMS (Cassidy, Abigail, Kendra, Bre.es), and there are some I actually really dislike (Alexandra, Andre, Emry). One of them (Aiden), we loved but didn't realize how popular it was at the time it was on our list. I have a young cousin due in a couple weeks and I am just hoping she didn't pick a Teen Mom style name.

My nephews are Lucien and Taylor. I love Taylor and really, really dislike Lucien (of course now that he is this handsome, adorable, sweet and intelligent kid, the name is the least of my concern and I've grown to like it simply because it's HIS name).
My nieces are Brielle, Heidi, and Ella. I think Ella is beautiful and Heidi is an adorable name. Brielle is just okay.
