Stressed induced chest pains??

I know not to come here looking for medical advice - I'm going to talk to my Dr. about this, but I just wanted to see if anyone has experienced anything similar.

The past few days (not all day, just every so often), I have felt a sort of chest "pressure" - like someone is sititng on my chest.  I wouldn't call it pain necessarily, just more of an uncomfortable feeling.

As a little background, I used to have a condition called Ventricular Tachicardia... but that was taken care of in March 2008 with a cardiac ablation.  The tach. is apparently more dangerous during pregnancy, so my doctor strongly suggested I get the procedure done right when we discovered my condition - before I got married.  I haven't felt ANY symptoms from that since.  (Symptoms before were chest pains, pressure, and a racing heartrate even if I was just sitting still).  A lot of time it was caffeine or stress induced, sometimes it just came on by itself.  Like I said though, I haven't felt any of that since 2008.  My OB asks me at EVERY SINGLE appointment about the condition, and whether I've felt anything still.  I keep meaning to look up if the condition can "come back," or something, or if she just wants to make sure it for sure was taken care of during the ablation.  I mean, I'm glad she's cautious and thorough... but it just makes me wonder when she asks every time - during both of my pregnancies so far.

Last night I felt this pressure at bedtime, and then now again today.  But thinking back, it came on right after I was upset with DH for some stupid comments he's been making lately.  Today I'm at work trying to finish up all the last-minute end of the year stuff, and between all that and my students being "end of the year crazy," I'm just a little more stressed than usual.  Hopefully its just the stress, and by taking it easy and trying to stay calm, this issue will go away!   Have any of you felt anything similar?

P.S. I meant to add - I've checked my heartrate every time this has happened - just in case - and it has always been normal.  That's what makes me think it isn't related to the tachicardia.  But I'm no Dr. so I'll be checking up with her.

Re: Stressed induced chest pains??

  • I had chest tightness that would take my breath away. It would happen mainly when I was at work or really stressed or tired. It was happening 15 or 20 times a day.  My doctor said that they were mini panic/ anxiety attacks. Since I was put on bed rest for an incompetent cervix I have not been working and I have not had a single mini panic/ anxiety attack.
